This Walgreens location has very rude Pharmacists. they have tried to rip us off on a few occasions. My Wife , Jenny is pregnant and there a a few Walgreens pharmacist that rudely deny her vital prenatal vitamins due to many not being covered by Medicade.

We are low income customers. These pharmacists do not cooperate with her doctor on finding a prescription that is covered by our insurance, and the try to sell her very expensive prenatal vitamins, and have recently gave us conflicting information on what drugs are covered.

This has been the 5th time the pharmacy department here has treated us this way. This recent time, My Wife actually screamed at the pharmacist working on the clock due to his rudeness and lack of cooperation in the drive through.

Common sense dictates is that it is not wise to anger women who are pregnant.

Jerks.

AUTHOR: Cour_Sco1990 - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, February 08, 2010

I am a mother of two and I currently have another due next week. I work 40 hours a week and make a decent amount of money. I can afford my children but I can't afford insurance so I have a medical card. That doesn't make me any less of person or beneath anybody else. Heck, most pregnant women have a medical card!

I think it is really insensitive of you people to be judging this couple because they need help paying medical bills and prescriptions, which is the case with most people in this country lately. There is a big difference in affording children and affording a doctor's visit.

FedUp

While the pharmacist should not be rude to any customer, I am sure they see and deal with free-loaders on a daily basis.

The person complaining should get an education and a job so they can legitimately complain in an intelligent manner.

Common Sense says NOT to get pregnant UNTIL you can afford a Child

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 22, 2008

You have a lot of GALL to complain about anything. You and your lady friend are FOOLS to even get pregnant knowing that you cannot afford it. You two (soon to be three) are why our taxes are so high. After this taxpayer leech is born, do everyone a favor and both of you visit Planned Parenthood for the pill, the morning after pill, a vasectomy or an abortion and you won't have to worry about prenatal vitamins again.

Good Points

As a Phamacy Tech and Walgreen's employee I know the fustration that you feel and I'm sorry that you were treated badly (that should NEVER happen). Ideally, the person you spoke to should have offered to contact the doctor to change to something covered. However, the doctors office sometimes take days to resond to requests and that is as annoying to you as it to the pharmacy staff. But, it is true that there is cheap prenatal vitamins over the counter.

Talk to her Doctor

AUTHOR: Susan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 17, 2008

He knows what welfare pays for and should be subscribing that.

Also, what Midwest said is correct but again, talk to her doctor. I had anemia with my pregnancies and needed vitamins with a higher iron content.

Common sense dictates that when you are poor, you don't get pregnant to begin with since you obviously will not be able to afford having a child. Why do you people keep banging knowing this? Stop leeching of our tax dollars.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Couple quick points

AUTHOR: Midwest Pharmd. - (U.S.A.)

First of all, you do not have insurance, you are on welfare. As such, you are typically limited in what the state actually covers. Now your physician and pharmacist should both be aware of this and be looking to get her switched to something that is covered. In the meantime, the key supplement necessary during pregnancy is folic acid. It is available OTC, and relatively cheap. I believe that pharmacies also carry OTC prenatal vitamins which are also fairly cheap. you might be able to get a bottle of a hundred for under 10 bucks. If you are waiting to get something that is "free" (ie paid for by taxpayers), then you will need to have your pharmacist work with your physician to make it happen. I will say that going a few days without the prenatal vitamin is not necessarily detrimental, and if it ends up being any longer she should get some folic acid. A little patience and understanding on your part may speed up the process a bit. People tend to go the extra mile for those that are friendly.
