I received a call with a recorded message saying that my auto warranty was about to expire and that I could press "1" to talk with a rep. Since I don't have an auto, I wanted to be taken off their list and pressed "1." He immediately wanted to know my auto make and model and VIN. When I told him I didn't have auto he immediately hung up on me. A few days later, I received a letter that was obviously from the same company asking for the same information. On the back of the letter it stated that they do not make outgoing phone calls.
The whole thing struck me as a "phishing" scam.
