Weight Watchers Free Trial...NOT Internet

As a previous reporter stated, I had also signed up for Weight Watcher's "free trial". The very next day I completed their cancellation form, which included specific instructions not to duplicate the request either by their internet form or any other. According to the website, they would confirm the cancellation but that it would take about seven days.

Obviously this is a problem, since by the time you receive confirmation, you are already outside the window of opportunity to cancel. I assumed (oops) that a company like Weight Watchers would have the sense to take that timing into account, however I have found differently.

Realizing that I had been charged despite my request for cancellation (the charge was presented to my bank before I received any other communication from the company), I immediately contacted the company by the only means they offered - their website. I received an e-mail informing me that the request had come after the deadline for cancellation and that they would refund only $18.10. They have refused to refund the full amount despite the fact that I never used their website except in my attempts to cancel.

I have filed a complaint with the BBB.
