I had a 66 month lease on a vehicle with Wells Fargo Auto Finance (going forward will be WFAF)that was schedule to end in April, 2009. In February, I began receiving calls from a "representative" from WFAF stating that I could end my lease early and purchase the vehicle through WFAF or I could end my lease early (by a few months) and pay the lease end payment and any fees associated. Foolishly looking back at it now, I chose the second option of ending the lease early.

I provided WFAF all of the payments required (last scheduled monthly payment and turn in fee for vehicle) and drove the car 76 miles out of my way to return the vehicls. BTW, I was 12,000 miles under the allowable mileage on the lease so they had nothing to complain about. At the drop off center, the gentleman that inspected my vehicle commented about how clean my turn in was and proceeded to hand me a piece of paper that was his "sign off" on receipt of the vehicle. My fault for not getting an official document to report no damage at all.

About a month after turn in, I began receivng phone calls from a company claiming they were WFAF and said I owed over $950 dollars to them and I needed to pay in within 30 days. Obviously a bit of panic set in but I found some stories on Rip Off Report that showed similar instances to mine and that the people at the WFAF angency were trying to collect on monies that were not rightfully due to them.

To make a long story short, I had a lawyer friend of mine get involved to try and get them off my back. I provided proof of final payment and the $250 turn in fee where WFAF cashed the check. Finally in August the company claimed they would settle everything for a total of $50.89 for a set of fees associated with the lease end agreement. To get them off my back, I agreed to pay the $50.89 and asked the WFAF associate to invoice me so I had a record (cashed check) of the payment. I never heard anything more from them for over 3 months. Beginning in Novmebr, the calls began daily again. I just spoke with them and the arrogant WFAF associate said she has no record of any conversations taking place back in August along with no agreement to settle anything then what is due. I told them I will contact my lawyer again to dispute and he exact words to me was"Go ahead, we will tell him the same we are telling you, pay us the money within 30 days".

I need some help with getting the harrassing phone calls to stop and get these people off my back. I paid the fees required to end the lease (last month payemtn and turn in fee) but now they are trying to hit me with a $450 charge for "damage" to the vehicle at turn in. I asked them to show me photos of the damamge and they claim that they can't. I told them back in April when I see the pictures that verify that this is my vehicle, I will pay the amount due. Still have not produced the pictures of the damage.

Bottom line, if you are leasing a vehice and it is troough WF, ask for someone else to finance the vehicle. The company representing WFAF are a nightmare to deal with and I will never involve myself again with anything that has to do with WF and Wachovia.
