WildBlue Communications sells high speed broadband internet services throughout North America.

I'm sure by now most people know that both WildBlue and HughesNet satellite internet companies use what they call a "Fair Access Policy" FAP.  It's anything but fair in my opinion.

I subscribed to the largest plan they sell which is $85.00 per month.  This provides me with 17,000mb of download per month.  This converts to approximately 16gb per month.  What they don't tell you is the fact that when you use it up, you are slowed down to less than or equal to dial up speeds for weeks at a time.

When I used 16,900 mb of my 17,000mb they slowed me down to a speed that was so slow it was like they turned it completely off and kept me at that speed for almost three weeks.  During that three weeks my monthly invoice became due and they took another $85.00

I literally spent $85.00 for three weeks of dialup and one week of broadband.  This leads me to yet another frustrating position when their service is running at optimal speeds.

What is optimal?  Optimal by definition means, "most favorable".  Which suggests most people would favor the service.  NOT!  This service when working at best is not anywhere near that of DSL or Cable.  It is faster than dialup yes.

Today I checked my usage and I am at 70% of my maximum.  This means I have downloaded about 11,000mb of data this month.  My speed is already be affected by the FAP even though I have not yet reached my maximum.  THIS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL... YOU DONT GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR with WildBlue

Now for another interesting point.  What you use on the 1st of June for download data, does not return to you to be used again until the 1st of July.  They use 30day rolling data.   What does this mean?  Let me explain.  Lets say you have a new install of the service and you have the biggest plan WildBlue sells, which costs you $85.00 per month and you get 17,000mb per month.  Pretend today is August 1st, it's day one of your service and you download a copy of Internet Explorer which is 5gb and then Windows updates your system with another 4gb of data.  This is 9gb downloaded so far.  Then you surf YouTube for an hour or so and download another 5gb of data (This is easy to do with video), then you FaceBook a bit and look at pictures your friends posted, which uses another 2gb of data  This brings you to your 16gb of data usage or (17,000mb).  Your internet is immediately slowed to speeds that will make it impossible to use -- I mean impossible.  Now, because WildBlue has 30day rolling data units, you will continue at what I consider, Less than dialup speeds until September 1st. (Remember we are pretending it's August).  Now you have paid $85.00 for one day of mediocre broadband and have 30 days to go before you get high speed again.

THIS IS A RIP OFF

If you read this and then sign up for WildBlue, you will regret it.

I am stuck in a two year agreement for internet that does not work well at all.  It actually took about 3 minutes (Watch the clock for 3 minutes and see how long it really is) to load this page...
