*Consumer Suggestion: Washington DC Attorney General just filed lawsuit against InPhonic for deceptive rebate practices
*UPDATE Employee: Wirefly reply
After waiting over 9 months since my purchase of Nextel service and two phones, I'm now being told that my rebate forms did not have the right postmark on them. Of course, I can't reproduce the postmarked envelope, because I have no control over what happens at the post office, or more likely, the rebate center.

#2 Consumer Suggestion
Washington DC Attorney General just filed lawsuit against InPhonic for deceptive rebate practices

This is VERY IMPORTANT info for everyone on this site.
I filed a Rip-Off Report regarding InPhonic's denial of my rebate from last summer. I then learned that Washington, DC's Attorney General is currently suing InPhonic (as of June 8, 2006) because of a deluge of complaints their office has received regarding InPhonic's deceptive rebate practices. InPhonic's corporate offices are in Washington, DC. so that AG has jurisdiction over them. The AG is accepting complaints from anyone in any state against InPhonic. To be a part of the AG's lawsuit, you just need to send them a complaint or a statement of your problem with them.
The press release regarding the lawsuit is on the AG's website and a direct link is: http://occ.dc.gov/occ/cwp/view,A,11,Q,636576.asp
I tried to file my complaint online, but when I called the AG' office today, I learned that they had not received it. I had called their Consumer Protection Hotline (202-442-9828, which is listed in the press release), for further info and left a voicemail. My call was returned within an hour by a Ms. Carter who was very aware of the lawsuit and very helpful. She said they were experiencing problems with online complaints and asked me to mail or fax the info to her at 202-727-6546. She also gave me her direct number for any other questions, which is 202-727-2102.
The lawsuit is seeking restitution to consumers, civil penalties, costs and fees. To participate, everyone who has been screwed out of their rebate needs to give their info to the AG. After months of excuses, my $250 rebate was denied for basically the same reason InPhonic has been denying everyone else's: first it was invalid phone bill; and ultimately they added the untimely submission of rebate (again, the postmark excuse). I have sworn that I will not go away until I get my money.
Please go to the above site and read their press release and get on the AG's list. This may be the only way we will get our money.
