I purchased a Motorola Razr back in August 2005. Wirefly Inphonics advertised a $180 rebate, making the phone free.

I waited until after 60 days to send in the required paperwork, and followed the instructions exactly. 4 to 5 weeks later, I received a postcard saying my information was lacking the phone bills. Since it took very long to get that postcard, my 120 day window was closing. I called the company, and the rep ask me to just fax the information to them. I did that. The first time was on the 119th day, as I have phone records of that. The second time was after the 120 day window.

I spoke to Alicia the customer service rep and she explained that there was a error. It seems the rep used the second fax date to invalid my rebate, because they said the information was received after the 120 day window. I asked Alicia, to please resubmit since they made a error using the second fax date. She even acknowledged the first fax was on the 119th date.

The Supervisor decided to ignore the first fax, and proceeded to give me the run around. The experience was basically a run around to frustrate the customer. I wasted enough time trying to get this, that it is no longer about $180 dollars. I want to expose these scam artist and shut them down, so they cannot cheat thousands more people(a quick internet search revealed thousands of complaints against Wirefly Inphonics for their so-called rebate.

I'm willing to be contacted by attorneys for a class action suit. I willing to file with FTC, and make this more public by engaging the media to expose these crooks. Bottom line: What will it take to shut these people down, so they cannot go on cheating and ripping off others with this phony run around?

Contact all the cellular service providers and let them know about Wirefly Inphonic

AUTHOR: Raymond - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 26, 2006

Hi Man Sze:

I agree with you. One way to shut down these scam artist, is to contact all the cellular service providers, and let them know about all these complaints against Wirefly Inphonic. I've already contact T-Mobile. I told T-Mobile the only reason I signed up with them was because I checked their JD Powers rating and saw the customer service rating was high. I ask the T-Mobile rep, "Do you really want your good name, spoiled by associating with Wirefly Inphonic?" We all should do the other service providers.

Shut down their business through the major service providers

AUTHOR: Man Sze - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 25, 2006

A big part of Inphonic's business comes (or all of it) from selling cellphones and celluar services. If we all get together and write a letter of complaint to our service providers (Cingular, Sprint, Verizon, Alltel, etc.), explain to them the situation and how Inphonics are scamming us.

We should encourage the service providers to remove Inphonics from their list of authorized retailers. No respectable companies will ever associate themselves with a company such as Inphonics. If you do a search on Inphonics and Rebate, the number of links and forum threads will clearly demonstrate to the service providers the level of service Inphonics is providing.

I was actually on the phone with both Inphonics Rebate customer agent and a Cingular agent trying to sort out my problem. (my problem was Inphonics claimed Cingular told them my account was deactivated before 181 days of service, even though it's been continuous for over a year). The Cingular agent was also getting irritated as we were stonewalled by the Inphonics agent.

I have already sent a letter to Cingular and I encourage all to do the same.

Update

AUTHOR: Raymond - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 25, 2006

Hi Dan:

Thanks for the feedback. As you know, there are thousands of complaints against Wirefly Inphonic regarding their so-called rebate.

I emailed Doreen Dennis, and she has responded. I will update here, if there is any news.

I agree with your list of recommendations, and I add that all of us who have similar complaints about Wirefly Inphonic not honoring the rebate, should get together for a class action lawsuit. Secondly, get the media involved to expose these scam artist, because I cannot believe all of us are doing this rebate process wrong, and causing the denials. I believe they never intended to honor those rebates, and they are just trying to give people the run around, to frustrate them, so they will go away. But this is more than $180 with me. It's now about principle. What is right. What is wrong. Scam artist like them need to be shut down.

Figh Back!!!

Hello Raymond,

I too have been mis-lead by Inphonics (aka A1 Wireless, aka Wirefly, aka Cognigen, and others).

Like you and many others we were not informed of their rebate process prior to our purchases. Nor have they been upfront or forthcoming with why it takes up to nine months and even longer for them to submit their promised rebates.

I have done the following and would encourage you to do the same, don't give up help bring them to justice:

File complaints with:
1. Attorney General Office Washington D.C.(http://occ.dc.gov/occ/site/)
2. Attorney General Office New York (www.oag.state.ny.us)
3. Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov)
4. the Federal Communications Commission (www.fcc.gov)
5. Consumer Affairs (federal and state) (www.consumeraffairs.com)
6. Better Business Bureau Washington D.C. (www.dc.bbb.org)
(note: they have been revoked by this BBB because of so many complaints)
7. Better Business Bureau New York (www.newyork.bbb.org)
8. Better Business Bureau Tempe Texas www.phoenix.bbb.org - (this is where your rebate went to Continental Promotion Group who handles the processing for Inphonic)
9. Doreen Dennis is suppose to be in the Office of the President of Inphonic that office is located in Reston, Virginia phone 706-636-0333 but it is hard to get anyone on the phone which makes me doubt Doreen Dennis actually exists.
10. There is also a manager for Inphonic at 866-274-8573
11. Richard Calder is President and COO of Inphonic apparently his office is in Reston, VA then I am sure he lives near there there is one listed in Vienna, Virginia near Reston but I am not sure yet if he is the right Richard Calder. (still looking into this).
12. File complaints with your cell service provider as well.

In regards to Doreen Dennis look for a response from her to you through Rippoffreport.com she is full of words but lacks any action behind them take what ever she says with a grain of salt.
