It's been over ten years, but I just revived my feelings about Jennifer Convertibles after reading the complaints and comments on Plant Feedback and complaints.com, and just found this website, so I've got to register my disgust. Just after my husband and I got married, we went to a Jennifer Convertibles on Long Island to buy a sofa and loveseat so we'd have something to sit on for the upcoming Christmas holiday.

We selected a set, bought stain protection, and declined their Credit Card offer. We used American Express, which was the best thing we could have done. Delivery was promised before Christmas, which was over a month away and we had that delivery promise written into our contract.

Christmas was around the corner, and we hadn't heard from the store; when we called, we were told we wouldn't be seeing those sofas until January. Of course we said that was unacceptable as we had a prior agreement. Then the manager got involved and promised delivery of the sofas from the warehouse. Delivery day came, and my husband received the sofas; he noticed a tag on each of the sofas saying that they were returned merchandise, and he also noticed that they weren't clean. He said to the delivery guys that this was not acceptable, but they refused to take them out saying he had to contact the store.

After several calls to try to get what we paid for, we just got the runaround. We were told at first "We'll send a repair man out to fix them." Well, you can't fix old to be new, so that was not acceptable. Finally, we just said "Pick them up. We no longer want to do business with your company and we are stopping payment on our CC."

The regional manager and I had a conversation about this where he insisted that we were going to pay for these couches no matter what, and of course I said we weren't. THEN, AND THIS REALLY CINCHES IT FOR US, he had the gall to say "Have your husband call me; I want to talk to him." as if my husband's answer would be different from mine! It really peeved both of us off at that point, and I filed a complaint with BBB.

Bottom line: American Express stopped payment, and they never heard from Jennifer Convertible, and we kept the couches, which turned out to be real pieces of junk that didn't last anyway, so it's a good thing we didn't pay a single cent for them!

To Jennifer Convertibles: Just go out of business; I can't believe you people still are operating!
