Kaufman's Wedding World Horrible, illegal business practices Timonium Maryland

I ordered 5 bridesmaid dresses from Kaufman's Wedding World in Timonium on Dec 19, 2003. They were due to be discontinued on Dec 31st. I paid $600 over the phone with my credit card on Dec 19th.

Dec 31st comes around and they leave a message on my HOME phone at 12:00 to say they have to ask me a question about my dresses (one which I had already told them when I ordered the dresses in the first place) and that I needed to call back by 2:30 that afternoon. They gave me 2 1/2 hours to call back, and called my home phone on a week day when, they had my cell phone number.

I called back around 3:00 and was told I was too late and they could no longer order my dresses. I was understandably distraught, but decided not to scream and yell and to just find a way to fix the problem. The next week they said they would give me a refund of the money they charged to my credit card (without ordering my dresses) and that I would have to call corporate and leave a message.

I left several messages, but no return call and no money. I contacted the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint. A month later they informed me by phone and mail that they too had to leave several messages and Kaufman's would not respond. They have given them an unfavorable review to due lack of response.

Still today, 4 months later, I have no refund. How can a company keep my money without delivering any goods? It's illegal!
