In January of 2004 my girls ordered their bridesmaids dresses from Kaufman's. I was told they would arrive in April and that the girls should pay in full to get a discount - which they did.
I called and checked on the dresses in April because I never heard from them - was told they would be in soon. I made several calls, no calls back, told they would be in any day. As it was getting closer to my wedding we started to get real worried.
I spoke to Mrs. Kaufman over the phone who assured me they would be in on 5/27/04 - that she was personally guaranteeing it - well that day came and went. I kept calling her - she never returned my phone calls - instead she had her son, Ira - the professional businessman that he is - call me back from his cell phone while he was driving - he guaranteed that they would be in 6/7/04 - and that day came and went.
With only a couple of days before the wedding, I started researching Kaufman's on line and found this website with all of the horrible complaints and stories of other unfortunate situations. I was sick to my stomach! Every time I called the store the girls were rude, obnoxious and completely useless. No one seemed to understand the severity of the situation that THEY created. I was told that it was MY FAULT that the dresses weren't in on time because we only ordered them 6 months ago! They certainly had no problem taking all of the money.
Also, upon my research I found out about their bad credit history with the dress manufacturers and I am shocked that they are still in business. I was on the phone with Mrs. Kaufman three days ago - crying because of the situation and she had nothing to offer me - all she kept saying was that she was sorry - her "sorry" did nothing for me - she was lying right to me.
Well, I called that store yesterday and I told the little twit on the other line of the phone that I would be filing a law suit if they did not have my dresses in their store by the end of the day. Surprise, surprise - five minutes later I get a phone call saying that Mr. Kaufman himself (like that is some big deal) would be driving the dresses down to the store that afternoon. WOW!
We all got there tried on the dresses and luckily everything was okay with the exception that they were all wrinkled like they were rolled up in a ball! I was also able, through the help of one of their competitors, to find out that they truly were Jordan dresses and that Jordan was holding the order because Kaufman's had back bills to pay!
This is the important part for all of you who have been ripped off by Kaufman's....I was able to give Ira Kaufman an earful when I went into the store. I told him about all of the complaints on line that I read - I told him that many people know about their credit issues - and about the rude sales people and lack of customer service.
The only two things he said to me was "Did you know that Jordan owes us money??" Right, like I am going to believe that a huge dress manufacturer is going to hold product because they owe Kaufman's money - that doesn't even make sense - the man can't even lie well. The other thing he said was "I promised you the dresses and here they are..." Days before the wedding he comes through on a promise - did he want me to thank him?? Come on - he is the sleaziest businessman I ever had the displeasure of dealing with.
Luckily there was a store full of people, including employees (who still were as cocky as ever) and also a person who was there for an interview. I hope he listened to what I had to say. I felt better after I said what I did but I still walked away knowing that they will do this again to someone else. Oh, and for the little twit that made a comment under her breath as I walked out of the store - she is lucky I didn't turn around and rip out her tongue! I am a nice person - and this is what this company caused me to go through just days before my wedding - the happiest time of a person's life - I take comfort in believing what goes around comes around.
If there is anything that I can do to shut this place down I would be more than happy to.

I told you so, to the employee of Kaufman's who "worked for the most honest employer

I love being right, especially to young "women" who think they know it all. May I say...I told you so, to the employee of Kaufman's who "worked for the most honest employer who does not go back on his word"!! Hopefully you will experience the trauma so many women have been through in dealing with Kaufman's, along with the stress of planning the monst unforgettable moment in your life. It is a life learning experience...not to trust just anyone, especially your employer. I hope you learned your lesson and make better of your life than retail! I have been waiting for this day! I hope that eveyone writes to the Miss America Pagent also, due to the Kaufman name being involved.

I HAVE BEEN THERE AND THEN SOME ...now empty - Wedding World has been all over our local news

I also went to Kaufmans Wedding World in Boardman Ohio. I was treated very badly as I see you were also. I had ordered my Wedding dress on July 3, 2003. I received my dress at the end of May. I was lucky. When I put the dress on it did not fit me they had given me the wrong size top.
I took the dress home because they assured me it would be no problem to have it altered. I had to have the top taken out two sizes so it would fit. Now $200.00 later I have the dress I thought I was getting a great deal on. I also ordered my girls dresses there on 8/10/04 I have been fighting with the store everyday to get them in on time. The dresses came in on 6/14/04 well past the 6mon mark that they should have been in so it does not matter when you place the order they never come in on time no matter what.
When I was trying to find out were the dresses were I also had called several times and got no were. My mom finaly went in and talked to the owner he he gave me the same line he has given all of you. But that is not the best part. In the proses of the many phone called I talked to the Manager of this store. When I asked her about my girls dresses she said she had no ideal when they would be here. I told her I wanted to know when because I was worried they mite not fit like my dress did not.
Her comment to me was that they did not mess up the measurement of my dress I must have gotten BIGGER since they were taken. I have never in my life seen such rude behaver. I was also told that the dresses are not late until August 1,2004 My wedding is July 31,2004. This place has no ideal about what they are doing or how to treat people. I my self will never tell anyone to go here they are not professonal or customer oriented. I guess they never hear the old saying the customer is always right.
If it was there hard earned money they would care just as much as we all do. So if you read this there are so many other places to go and get a beautyfull dress. You may save money here but it is not worth the stress you will go through to get the dress. And one more thing the sales people in these store do not have any ideal what they are doing or how to deal with customers when things happen.
The Wedding World in Boardman has been all over our local news so the word is out around here and it has made a big impact because the store is always empty. All but the ones who are still waiting for there dream dresses to arrive.

Catherine Forgot To Mention...

Catherine should have mentioned the way she acted. When a person acts the way she did, any company or business would handle the situation the same "cocky" way that Kaufmans Wedding World did. She forgot to mention the way she talked to the employees, and also the way she drove infront of the store beeping her horn and FLIPPING off the employee, who she refers to as the little "twit"
Ordering bridesmaids gowns normally take 4-6 months. She ordered her gowns 1-26-04 and received them the second week of June, which is under 5 months exactly!!
As for Mr. Kaufman he is a man of his word, and promised her the gowns that week, and she got them!
I hope this experience was a good conversation starter at her Wedding Reception :)

NO Customer Service, young attitudes

I know a bride in the same situation as you...only she will not be receiving "her" wedding dress promised from Kaufman's. I am the guilty party who recommended this bridal shop to a bride due to lower cost. I have to stand up for her on one of the most important days of her life knowing that I had something to do with making this event even more stressfull than it can be. The employee of this store is obviously very young and unmarried. This is the kind of people they hire...young attitudes who do not know or will ever realize the "behind the scenes" of a place such as Kaufman's Wedding World. They hire those they can take advantage of, just like a "paying" customer. The employee will never understand until she, who cannot identify herself, is in a bride-to-be's shoes with no wedding dress 4 weeks before her wedding...paid for with no refund having to buy another dress. The bride I know is to be married July 17, 2004, her dress was ordered in January 2004 to be delivered June 5,2004. Months ago Mrs. Kaufman was supposed to deliver the bad news to the bride...she failed to do so. It took many phone calls, which were unanswered, to her physically going to the shop to get an answer, an answer that should have been told a month before. So now this bride has purchased the same wedding gown twice, once at Kaufman's in January of 2004 and did not receive the dress or a refund, and a second time from Juliet's Bridal Botique June 2004 with alteration in progress for her july 2004 wedding. It's ashame that an "honest" employee does not even take the time to research her company. It is also ashame that these employee's cannot see that the Kaufman family are hiding behind them and putting them on the front, not making themselves look stupid, but making the employees look stupid.

Rudeness comes from you too
AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

I have to say I worked for Kaufman's Wedding World and you need to get your story straight. First, of all you are one of the most rudest people. You are just as bad as you claim Kaufman's to be, reading your immature report. You could actually get in trouble because you threatened the "little twit" that was working in your report. And all of Kaufman's employees are not cocky. And for your information Ira Kaufman is one of the nicest and most honest people I know. And although Mrs. Kaufman may have mislead you, Mr. Ira Kaufman would never do such a thing. I am sure when you went in you were not nice to "the little twit" and it is not her fault your dresses weren't there. So I hope wherever you work customers come in and scream and act immature like you did, when it was not your fault. So, my advice is you had a right to be upset but grow up and act like a mature adult. And don't threaten people, you will be the one taken to court.
