I ordered my dress on 1/3/04 for an event that was to take place on 6/5/04. I called several times before the event, and was told that the dress had not arrived. I was assured that the dress would definitely be delivered on or before 6/4/04. On 6/4/04, I called, and the dress had still not been delivered.

I requested a refund, and was told by store employees 3 times that the refund would be made. The 4th time I called the store, I was advised that my best bet was to call another #. They gave me a #, and I called. It was a help line that only gave me the option to leave a voicemail or to e-mail. I left voicemail and sent e-mail 3 times each.

I did receive 2 voicemail messages on my machine to the effect that "This is so-and-so from Wedding World. We'll call back." When I tried to call the # from which those 2 messages were called from, the message was that I couldn't call that #.

I sent my last e-mail and left the last voicemail message on 7/21/04. I haven't heard from them again. They owe me almost $300, and I'm not willing to let this drop.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Kaufman's "rip-off" world

AUTHOR: Peggy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 29, 2004

Patti,

Your story is very "typical" of bridal dress executives nationwide who falsely "express" dress arrival dates for many consumers each and every year.

Manufacturers (like Vera Wang) never explain why so many consumers complain about late arriving dresses. It is funny, no one ever complains of retailers missing the wedding date but only about "late dresses". Why manufacturer?

That makes me wonder if bridal dress executives are illegally manipulating consumers on false arrival dates for higher profits?

My two year investigation leads me to believe that "Late Arriving" dresses sometimes equals "poor Quality" inferior dresses that are too small with switched material and sales tag, etc.

If manufacturers can't get the dresses to consumers as promised (on time) by retailers, then we ask manufacturers to stop taking orders so that we consumers will not be mislead and "unnecessarily" stressed out by rude, lying, cheating corporate sales executives who are famous for saying:

Your dress will be in next month,
Your dress will be in next month,
Your dress will be in next month,
Your dress will be in next week,
Your dress will be in next week,
Your dress will be in next week,
Your dress will be in tomorrow,
Your dress will be in tomorrow,
Your dress will be in tomorrow.

A BIG FAT Lie (many times over) and that is unlawful in my opinion.

Ladies, when retail executives don't provided what is expressed (arrival dates for instance) then that failed "expressed" warranty "Null and Voids" (cancels out) any contract (written or verbal) provided by the retail executive. Voiding out bridal dress executives "No Return Policy".

That "No Return Policy" is only good if the retailer provides what is expressed. If they don't (like many bridal dress executives) than that "No Return Policy" becomes "Null and Void".

Thereby allowing consumers to recover damages (sometimes including pain and suffering, punitive damages, etc.) caused by the unlawful "negligence" of the retail executive of not providing what is expressed for a very expensive "planned event" thereby ruining the event.

It is so simple, provide what is expressed or get out of business.

Patti, please send a copy of your complaint to:

Mr. Phil Gamma
New York City Attorney General's Office
Consumer Fraud and Protection Division
120 Broadway
New York, NY 10271

And reference case #: CFN02A10064

I have ask his office to review the matter of bridal dress scams nationwide and to refer the criminal file to the U.S. Justice Dept who would be the only agency powerful enough to fight wealthy corporate executives and their supporting corporate attorney who cause victims even more pain and suffering. I know from past experience with the corporate attorneys.

Send a copy of this letter to Kaufman's owner (Margaret?) who does not seam to care her employees are providing false unhelpful information.

The crimes of bridal dress scams have been ongoing for 3 generations (30 years) in my family (my mother, my self and my niece) and I (in behalf of all previous and future distressed victims) hope to "force" bridal dress industry executives to become more accountable about what is shown as sample and what is being produced by manufacturers that is causing so many brides to "Cry" at their wedding.

Patti, what ever you do "Don't" let it drop. Ask to be reimbursed for all the "Pain and Suffering" Kaufman's caused by ruining your expensive planned wedding event.

There are also "Punitive Damages" (damages awarded in excess of normal compensation to the plaintiff to punish a defendant for a serious wrong) and the "Ricco Act" that may apply to this nationwide conspiracy of bridal executive who defraud, scam and mislead consumer shopping for wedding attire each and every year.

Tell Margaret consumer advocates (for bridal dresses) are watching her deceptive criminal sales activity via consumers complaints of 2004 and 2003. Much of the deceptive sales activity are appalling, unethical and appear to be "illegal" as well.

Also, ask Margaret if she got a letter from the Federal Trade Commission warning bridal dress executives about the Illegal act of missing garment tags as so many witnesses describe.

I have been asking Vera Wang corporation to address their illegal sales activity and Vera Wang has dismissed my request. I think it is because I caught her corporate president (Chet Hazzard) lying, cheating and stealing my family's expectation of having fun wearing "Couture" dress once in a lifetime.

I am still pressing Vera Wang two years post the crime. It is not easy because bridal dress executives have nothing to fear. No state attorney (execept for Utah) every arrest them for the repetitive criminal sales activity that executives have been defiant about for many years.

Patti, keep us updated. Tell Margaret that consumer advocates are watching her and will make sure she responds (voluntarily) or we will have the state attorney of PA review the complaints and put Margaret Kaufman out of business.

A Mr. Seth Mendelsohn (PA State Attorney/Western Division) has already handle bridal dress disasters, reviewed a brief describing the nationwide criminal activity and is well aware of the problems "created" by brutalizing corporate executives who run the bridal dress industry.

Hope the above is helpful. There is so much to add but not enough space to cover 30 years of criminal activity in the bridal dress industry.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck to all "unnecessarily" stressed out bridal dress consumers. Any ladies (in any states) should send bridal dress complaints as noted above so that no other consumers (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, etc.) are victims.

Good day, stressed out consumer of bridal dress sales associates.
