I had a call today from this company. They left no information as to the reason for the call. I was just to call them back and it was urgent. I have no idea who they are or what they want. I have no late or unpaid accounts. As you can imagine my surprise when I looked up their phone number on the internet and found out they are Merchants Credit Guide Company. Companies like this should not be able to call people. If there is an out-standing debt, and in my case there are NONE, the company claiming the debt should be the one to reach you by mail and not with a surprise, so called, URGENT phone call from this credit company. I was and am very up-set upon receiving this call. I don't know what to do about this. Do I call them back? Do I wait for the next call?

If you are home when they call, answer the phone and tell them the call is being recorded, then tell them to cease communications as per your right under the FDCPA. Get an address and/or fax# and hang up.
Then send a CEASE COMMUNICATION request, certified mail, return reciept requested.
NEVER call any debt collector. MCGCO are junk debt buyers of the worst kind. They have a long history of violating the law and engaging in harassment, forgery, lies, whatever it takes to get your money.
They buy old, UNCOLLECTABLE debts for less than a penny on the dollar and then use every unethical and illegal tactic they know to separate you from your money.
Go to www.FTC.gov and file a complaint each time they call.
