How to fix it for good

I have been through this before and there really is only one good solution: let them impound your insurance premium and pay from the impound account.
Mortgage processors (aka Trustees) are staffed by stupid clerks. They know only one way to do things and when you try to step outside the line, their little pea brains short-circuit. Yes, you have the right to pay your own insurance but the clerks are too stupid and too lazy to verify that you are doing so. It's a lot easier for them to assume that you have no insurance and force their own over-priced coverage down your throat.
I know this from experience. Each year I had to fight the same battle as the year before.
Go with the flow and let them impound your insurance premium along with taxes. They understand that. On my current mortgage I let them impound and pay. No problems.

Dealing with Nationstar

Nationstar is one of the lenders in the class action lawsuit, which is closed to new filers.
You could file a complaint with the CFPB, and upload a copy of your insurance declarations page showing coverage in effect when they force placed you. (Include a copy of Nationstar's notice of force placed insurance). Demand correction of your file, reversal of fees, and removal of negative information reported to credit bureaus. They will send that to Nationstar who will address it. I had a situation with them, and this method got their attention.
or, send a copy of your declarations page to Nationstar by certified mail demanding they update their system with your correct insurance information, reverse any late fees, and correct any adverse reporting to credit bureaus within 30 days or you will pursue the matter in court. If you don't hear from them, hand it over to an attorney who specializes in dealing with mortgage issues.
Best of luck
