Office Depot Office Depot fullfillment center "could not validate your rebate" El Paso Texas

I purchased a laptop computer from an Office Depot store that came with the promise of a $50 rebate from Office Depot (also $50 from HP which HP has already remitted). The store provided me with the receipt and other paperwork I was to mail in. I went home, filled it out, cut out the box top and whatever else was required and mailed it in. Last week I received a post card from the rebate center saying "The receipt submitted was either damaged or unreadable or missing critical information and we could not validate your rebate." This came in the form of a postcard, they did not return what I sent or in any way offer proof of their claim to deny, nor did they specify which piece of information if any might be missing. I have until the 14th to submit what is missing, which of course I don't know, nor believe.
