In April 2010 I purchased an Oreck Orbiter at our local Oreck store in Henderson, Nevada. It was expensive ($500) but it came with a 10 year warranty AND included 10 free annual 'tune-ups'. On 12-14-2013 I drove to the store to buy some supplies and found the store empty and a 'for lease' sign in the window. I called the Oreck corporate office to find an alternative store to purchase supplies AND for a location where the remaining 7 annual 'free tune-ups' would be provided.
Since my machine also needed 2 repairs in the past 3 years I was sure that, eventually, something else would break and need repair. The operator reported to me that the Henderson store was a Franchise and was no longer open; she was unsure if a new location in Henderson/Las Vegas would be opened. She reported that the nearest service center (where repairs and the annual 'tune-ups' would be performed) was located in Pahrump, Nevada - a 135 MILE ROUND TRIP from my house. Clearly this company has screwed all of their existing customers in the Las Vegas and Henderson area. DO NOT patronize this company - their 'commitment' to customer care is, put politely, bovine excrement.

Hello, there!
Reading your report against people that have questions in regards to their "very expensive" products they trusted and in the end it was not what they have expected, makes me question who you are?! Speaking for yourself as an "exowner" or "exworker" of one of these facilities that represented ORECK over all, explains your comments.
Now....as an owner of most of the products from ORECK I honestely do not care or I can care less about your "FREE" service. That comes with the business!!!But, to let down everyone in the Las Vegas Valley is something I have no words for....!
After all, who you are I DO NOT CARE! I want my Vacuum, my Orbiter and my Iron to be taken care of, and not 135 miles away from my house, but close in this area where as I do remember I have spent a lot of money on Oreck!!!
Thank you!

Look Pal - the only thing I (and the rest of the customers in the Las Vegas and Henderson area) wants is a local facility for repair and warranty service, and not be forced to drive 130+ miles round trip
Since it is true that the franchise closed but the corporation is still active further leads me to believe that the corporation should stand by their Las Vegas/Henderson customers & provide a local facility to honor the warranties involved

A FRANCHISE went under not the company. Oreck itself has been purchased by the same group that owns Hoover. They are one of the BIGGEST vacume cleaner makers out there. So the BRAND of Oreck wont be going anywhere any time soon. Yes you will have to travel to Pahrump. Specifically Marks Service.
Yes it is upsetting, but THREE years ago there wasnt any issues, and now there is. Its not an INTENTIONAL ditching. One of the main reasons businesses have been failing is due to warrenty work. See yes you may have a warrenty but whenever you use that warrenty, work has to be done for free. If you do not buy anything extra, exactly how are they supposed to stay in business?
Free work means paid work has to wait. When that happens businesses lose money. And a business doesnt stay open on charity. It stays open when there are CUSTOMERS!!! If all you did was buy a vacume cleaner with a warrenty and thats the only "business" you had with them EXCEPT your warrenty work, they wont be able to stay open. They need PEOPLE to come in and BUY from them.
As it was a franchise, this means that they wouldnt have the corporate support. In the fact that a franchise doesnt have Corporate paying their bills. They have to pay all their bills on whatthey earn. If you really and truly feel this bad about it, then there are a few things YOU can do.
1. Dont shop online, your killing the service and convenence of a brick and mortar store. Yes a brick and mortar store is a tad pricier, but you would be helping to STIMULATE your local economy. Yes the tourists drop money, but its normally ONLY in a casino. It rarely ever reaches to YOUR neighborhood.
2. Repeat business. Shop at smaller stores. Mom and Pop stores are FRANCHISES!!! They have normally sunk a ton of cash into that business. Normally its their own money. Sometime a business loan, but the end result is that these little stores tend to have to pay less charge more and eventually fail because of the two inherent factors in our society. Online shopping and Big Box stores like walmart and best buy.
Yes times are tough but not recesion levels. Business are trying to grow. But ALL businesses are suffering with the exception of companies like walmart and best buy. They have enough money to drive the little business out. So I would suggest that in the future you maybe try and help yourself by helping others. Yes the cheap chinese crap that walmart sells is just that CHEAP. But if you can get QUALITY at a smaller store please do so. You only help yourself and your community. The more business that are open and PAYING TAXES the less in taxes that a individual has to pay. The more businesses that are open and profitable the more LOCAL jobs there are. The only thing Online shopping is going to get you a item that you have to WAIT for and NO CS!!
