Club 286 The 286 club corporation Did not pay me and forced to work 12hours no break Barrington Rhode Island

I walked in to get the job. I was warned by the head cook and the general manager that the owner likes to come in and scream at the cooks when he is upset. But I didn’t let that stop me I thought he was just passionate. I get told they would pay 18 an hour and felt it was too little for the amount of work but I said I would give it a shot. They try to start me right away but I said I want to talk to the owner about pay first.

I met the owner days later and he told me if they told me the pay I said yes and instead of trying to get more I said it’s fine because he told me I could grow with them. Ok. Well I started BEFORE I could get the payment forms started. They said they will bring it to me in a few minutes and they never did I asked three times for it never came. He just kept telling me he’s a lawyer and he will pay me no worries.

Five days later I get the form and thats when I’m told there Is a computer clock in. They said they will fix it on my check no problem. I worked some 8 hour days but also 12 hour days. Without a break. I had a family emergency and had to leave anyway I tried to ask for my check they said they are terminated me and I can pick it up Friday or they will send in the mail. By the way I had worked 3 weeks for them without pay. 5 weeks went by they blocked my phone number and never sent a check I make it back go in he writes me a check that’s about 500$ short. And says there is no need to call about it , "it is what it is”.

I missed Christmas got stranded in another state all while dealing with severe trauma done to my family. The check he wrote me I also can not cash he write my name wrong no last name and it is a personal check the bank has to verify he wrote. Which he will not answer his phone. I worked the 40+ hours. It didn’t work out. Why should my family suffer because no cook wants to work for him? Any help please.

I wish for the workers there to see they have talent and value and don’t have to stand for his abuse and slavery. They deserve a break. They deserve respect fair treatment and also, pay. God bless you and may god have mercy on this man.
