GE Appliance I purchased a GE Smart Double Electric Wall Oven in June, 2023. The oven walls are scratched from the racks and the walls are rusted Louisville KY

The Problem:

• Purchased GE double wall oven for $4,500 in 2023
• Immediately noted the oven racks  were scraping  and scratching against the oven walls, damaging the enamel coating
• These scratches have now developed rust in less than 2 years of use

What You've Done:

1. Contacted GE customer service initially, who suggested using oil on the racks
2. Called again when that didn't work, and they sent replacement racks
3. The new racks also caused scratching, so that did not work
4. Called GE customer service again who sent out a technician
5. Had appliance service technicians visit  on three different occasions 
6. The technicians determined the oven was defective and recommended  oven replacement to GE
7. You've sent letters and made phone calls trying to resolve this

GE's Response:

• They've classified the damage as "cosmetic" and refused replacement
• They haven't addressed the fact that the scratched areas are now rusting
• They've been unresponsive to my continued efforts to resolve the issue. 

This is clearly beyond normal wear and tear. The fact that the oven walls are rusting indicates a functional defect, not just a cosmetic issue, as rust will eventually compromise the oven's integrity, possibly causing a fire. Given the premium price we paid for the oven and the professional assessment of the issue during the first 3 months of service that the unit is defective, GE's response seems inadequate.
