We purchased a hosting plan from Namecheap — the Stellar Plus plan — which was paid in full through October 16, 2025. The original purpose was to host a website as we built out our startup’s Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
However, Namecheap’s debilitated and unreliable servers made it impossible to continue development. We abandoned the web hosting portion and began using it solely for basic cPanel email — no website, no traffic, no uploads, no plugins, no abuse of any kind.
Despite this minimal use, Namecheap suspended the account multiple times, claiming “resource overuse” without providing specific logs or verifiable proof. We ran multiple scans, including Google PageSpeed Insights, which returned 100% clean results every time.
Still, they ignored the evidence, continued to blame us, and eventually canceled the entire hosting account — even though we still had almost a full year left on the subscription.
What followed was worse: they told us they had a backup of our account, but would only restore it if we paid again — $74.88 for a service we had already paid for.
That’s not customer service — that’s extortion.
Their Legal & Abuse Team sends robotic, copy-paste replies, refuses to acknowledge valid documentation, and shows zero accountability. They bully you into admitting guilt for problems caused by their broken hosting infrastructure. Meanwhile, in public (like on Trustpilot), they send polished, fake-friendly responses to make themselves look helpful — a complete contradiction of what happens behind the scenes.
This conduct has caused us:
-
Business interruption and loss of opportunities
-
Emotional stress and wasted time
-
Loss of access to our business emails
-
Financial damage due to missed communication and re-development delays
Warning to others:
Avoid Namecheap’s hosting at all costs. Their domain services may be tolerable, but their hosting is a trap — poorly built, deceptively sold, and abusively managed. We are pursuing legal action and will continue to make this known until justice is served.
