On, December 30th, 2024 I won an auction that I had been bidding on for 7 day's. It was a binder of vintage coins. I spotted a coin in the binder that is by far the most sought after coin in the United States. It was a 1943 D Copper or Bronze Penny. The bid kept increasing heavily the last day so within the last 4 seconds of the auction I put a bid of $30,000.00. Then patiently waited for confirmation. Finally got the confirmation of the win and an invoice to pay $28K and some change. The following day I sent an email inquiring how the wanted me to pay for it.
Bank transfer, wire the money etc.. I got no response until Jan 3rd, 2025 and the email stated that I was an inelibible bidder and that the binder of coins would be relisted. I sent several emails to see how in the world this could be. It was the second time winning an auction and paid the first win immediately. I then get a response on the 6th of January stating that I had unpaid auctions which was total nonsence because I changed my vpn to another state. So they kicked me off the site because I asked them to show me where I had any unpaid invoices and they could not because there wasn't any. I made another account and different vpn to see if they were really going to relist the binder Inwhich they did not. In fact, they listed the individual pages of the binder pulling the 1943d penny out. Now take note, this is not a Penny that is found in circulation very often so it's quite pricy. $28k was a steal. Apparently someone at goodwill checked it out to see why it went so high in the auction and made up all this BS so they could get it themselves. 3 weeks later, Heritage Auction sold a 1943 D Penny for $555,000.00 Dollars. Not a coinsidence. I took screenshots of the pages that were originally listed and the pages after they pulled the win from me. I emailed the CEO of Goodwill all the way down to the customer service dept. Never getting another response from anyone at goodwill about the matter.
You would think that the CEO would have checked into this matter and responded to my email but like I said before, No one responded. I have contacted an attorney who immediately jumped on the case after reading and endless list of others that had gone through the same or similar situations with Shopgoodwill.com
Fortunately for me, the coin has increased in value to around $1.8 million due to the condition it was in and that is what the compensation value is. The upper management at Goodwill make a strong 6 figure income although it's non profit it sounds like a great place to work in management.
