24 Hour Fitness My son was the victim of locker theft. Cost the replace items is in excess of $2400.00. Daly City, California

On Tuesday April 26th, my son was the victim of theft at the Daly City 24 Hour Fitness.  His locker (along with (2) two
other lockers) were vandalized.  (All lockers were had a padlock on them.)  Items taken included:  Wallet and contents cash, credit cards, Clipper card, Cinema gift cards; car keys, house keys, cell phone, and gym bag.  The cost the replace items, and re-key car and house is in excess of $2400.00.

We met with the club manager on May 9, 2011.  We asked him about the thefts at his facility and what measures (if any) were taken to make 24 Hour Fitness a safe environment for its members.  His answers didnt indicate that any  preventative measures were effective.  The manager assured us that he would forward the information we provided (summary of losses) to the 24 Hour Fitness Loss Prevention Department.  The manager followed-up with a phone call on May 16, 2011 to inquire if we had heard from the Loss Prevention Department.  We have had no further contact with anyone from 24 Hour Fitness as of May 24, 2011.

After examining crime statistic data from the Daly City Police Department, it is very obvious that  the number of thefts at the Daly City 24 Hour Fitness have been numerous and consistent.  From 04/23/09 to 05/05/11 there have been (75) seventy-five (reported) thefts.

The management of Daly City 24 Hour Fitness had clear knowledge that thefts at their facility was an on-going problem. They did nothing to notify their members that this was a problem and concern and the members should do whatever was necessary to protect their personal belongings.  In fact, the members probably should have been advised to not use the lockers.
