On April 7, 2011 I purchased insurance with Allstate Insurance I requested to have my former insuranced replaced with the same product I had with them Commercial insurance that covered both renters and homeowners for my home in Detroit, Michigan. Spoke with an agent name Tiffany Howard who sold me the policy. The reason for the exchange was because Allstate was approximately $350 cheaper than my previous provider.

I had renters living in the home, but because they were stealing power from the Utility companies and I was charged the unpaid bills on my property taxes, I had to evict them. When I arrived at the house, they left it in a horrible mess, so I had to spend more money to have it cleaned up and I had brought with me funiture to move into the house.

Since the different utility companies cut the line for service to the house, I didn't turn on the services. The reason for it is because I had business to take care of in Alabama. So I secured the home and traveled to Alabama to take care of some rental property there. Once finished I returned back to Detroit only to find my house broken into, everything stolen and several windows busted, doors ripped off and taken, toilets, sink, everything missing and water running flooding my basement.

I reported this to the police, but of course they never come out to the house to assess the damage, only taking a report by telephone. I also contacted my insurance company to file a claim. So they are telling me I didn't have renters insurance only homeowners insurance and it is doubtful they were going to pay on my claim. I informed them I had moved into the home and my personal belongings were stolen also.

I asked to speak to the girl who sold me the insurance and was told by Victoria that Tiffany Howard no longer works for Allstate. She gave me a claim number and told me someone from Claims would be calling me. ON August 18, 2012, I got a call from Cheryl from Central Specialty Claim Team called and told me to call a different number to make a report, which I did.

Allstate then send me paperwork and I completed it and returned it too them as required. On November 19, 2012, Debbie Little Adjuster from Allstate handling my case, remarked, "she doubts that I lived in the house, saying I have no proof that I was living in the house."

November 19, 2012, Pierre Jackson, an Agent for Allstate had me drive from California back to Detroit to take measurement and pictures of the damage to the house. (I had returned to California, after seeing the loss and damage). Needless to say I was really pissed off. Not only for the loss, but because Allstate was so insensative and in fact Rude. Mr. Jackson was actually nice and cordial, and seem geniune in wanting to help, but he was only able to take pictures and do what he was required to do. I felt like I drove all that way out there just to let him in, wasting my time and money, when I could have had my rental agency go out to let him in.

I didn't hear a word from Allstate until August 2013, when I get a letter from an Attorney Elizabeth Alvarez telling me my wife and I needed to come down to her office to take a deposition regarding the property. We had moved from the address she mailed the letter to, and it got forwarded to my home in Alabama, and I didn't get it until August. Another letter dated March 18, 2013, arrived addressed to the same California address I use to live in, from Debbie Little stating my claim was being denied for failure to produce records, and documents for inspection and copying, as well as not showing up to their depositions in Glendale, California.

I have always asked for, but never given a copy of the estimates of loss from Mr. Jackson, and when I requested a copy he refused to send it, saying my claim was denied and he was restricted from sending me a copy.

The whole matter with Allstate Insurance Company has left me with a bitter taste for his Company. I and I see from the Ripoff report that hundreds of people have been treated poorly by this Ripoff Company. If you think for one minute you are in good hands, try making a claim. I used them before for my home in Alabama, and after suffering hail damage I filed a claim with them, they paid the claim, but then cancelled my policy after paying out several thousand dollars to repair the wind damage to my house there.

My mistake was getting insurance with this company a second time, stupid me should of stayed with the hirer priced insurance that would have already taken better care of me. That is what happens when you get a cheaper rate company to do business with.
