American Eagle Movers

  • Did Not Adhere to their Contract

  • Damaged and Misplaced Furniture and Items

  • Told Us to "Hire Local Movers" to Complete the Job for which we paid them over $10,000
American Eagle Movers required Paperwork to be Signed and Payment in Full Before they would Remove our items from Moving Vans (i.e. Before Customer Inspection).

After our articles were unloaded from the moving vans, it became clear that American Eagle Movers had not complied with the terms of their written contract.  The following is a list of the services American Eagle Movers state on their contract that they will provide, followed by our experience with the company.

American Eagle Movers' contracts states they provide "SANITIZED TRUCKS AND ALL MOVING EQUIPMENT

Our Experience:  Movers did not have necessary equipment such as blankets and padding to protect furniture and items, nor did they have sufficient hand trucks or measuring devices to off load and correctly place furniture and items.  Nor did they have cutting devices to remove plastic wrap from furniture.

American Eagle Movers' contracts states they provide  "A TEAM OF PROFESSIONAL MOVERS"

Our Experience:  Movers began off-loading at 6PM and refused to leave our home at Midnight (delivery times as stated in their contract are from 8am to 9pm).  They worked until 4AM, and then blamed misplacement of items on the fact that we did not stay awake and therefore did not tell them where to place boxes (which were clearly labeled with the names of the appropriate rooms)

Movers damaged items in our home and did not report the damage to us.

Movers refused to move many items upstairs, suggesting we hire local movers to do that part of
their job.

Movers did not return phone calls, nor communicate their arrival at the destination until 1 hour prior to arrival.

American Eagle Movers' contracts states they provide "INSURANCE AT .60 CENTS PER POUND PER ARTICLE AT NO EXTRA CHARGE"

Our Experience:  Movers damaged, broke, destroyed a great deal of furniture and other items due to inadequate wrapping and over-packing the van.  When the damage was pointed out to them, they shrugged their shoulders and told us to file a claim.

Claims department did not answer the telephone during business hours, nor return voice mail.

American Eagle Movers' contracts states they provide "BLANKET AND PAD WRAPPING OF ALL ITEMS"

Our Experience:  Movers arrived and stated they had insufficient blankets.  Instead of blanket
wrapping and padding, they plastic wrapped the majority of the wooden furniture as if it were upholstery, resulting in significant damage.

American Eagle Movers' contracts states they provide "SHRINK WRAPPING PROTECTION OF UPHOLSTERY AT NO EXTRA CHARGE

Our Experience:  Some upholstery and mattresses were not shrink wrapped, resulting in water damage.

American Eagle Movers' contracts states they provide "LOADING, UNLOADING AND PLACEMENT OF ITEMS INCLUDED"

Our Experience:  Heavy furniture, carpets, washer, dryer, and the majority of boxes were not placed in correct rooms.  Most boxes and a great deal furniture were piled haphazardly in the living room or in the detached garage.  When we requested the movers place the items correctly, they told us to "hire a local mover.

For example, in the Living Room there were:

  • 17 boxes labeled Kitchen

  • 16 boxes labeled Master Bedroom

  • 25 boxes labeled for the girls bedrooms

  • Several large pieces of misplaced furniture, including piano

American Eagle Movers' contracts states that "BEDS AND BED FRAMES WILL BE DISASSEMBLED AND REASSEMBLED

Our Experience:  Bed frames were not reassembled

American Eagle Movers' contracts claims "ANOTHER SATISFIED SHIPPER"

Our Experience:  Extreme dissatisfaction ignored by Claims department

American Eagle Movers Contract  states IF ITEMS ARE NOT PROPERLY PACKED BY THE
SHIPPER OUR MOVERS WILL PACK THEM CORRECTLY TO AVOID ANY DAMAGE

Our Experience:  Unpacked items were not packed correctly by movers and therefore suffered damage and breakage.

American Eagle Movers Contract states WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON EMPLOYINGA CARING AND PROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE STAFF.

Our Experience:  Customer Service has not responded to our voice mail regarding the unprofessionalism of their employees, the unfinished job, or the damage to our home and items.
