Americredit Horrible Customer Service and Debt Collection the business that doesnt give a dam Phoenix Arizona
I have my car financed through Americredit, which is extremely high interest. I was a minor when I got my car, so it went in my father's name. He has bad credit, so I can't blame Americredit for that. I have to say that my late fees are very low, thank god. I have had a few unique problems though.
I had an accident with my car a few years into the loan. The insurance check required Americredit's signature in order to be cashed. It took me 6 months to get that check! My car sat at the garage the whole time patiently waiting for me to pick it up. First the "lost" the first check. Then they kept "misplacing" the bill from the garage that must have been faxed a dozen times.
This lead to the next problem. I live in the country, and it is a half hour drive to even a gas station. It is crutial to have a car. I ended up getting fired because I didn't have a way into work everyday for 6 months. My boss just didn't believe me that I was still waiting on the check and that with my parents work schedule I couldn't always get a ride in. So, I got behind on the car payments. I understood that it is the collector's job to call and harrass us, but they knew that I was waiting on the check to be signed so that I could pick my car up! Them holding the check up was just putting me farther and farther behind on the payments.
The phone calls were actually beyond the point of harrassment and the representatives were abrasive. It took me months to get back on track, so even after I got the car back I was still getting phone calls. (Even though they knew I was busting my butt to get it caught up again). Believe me, I LOVE my car, I would do anything to keep from getting it reposessed, even steal if I had to.
Also, since the car is in my father's name (but it is my payment and my car) they always give me an issue about talking to them when I call. They always want to speak with him first, and he is never around. My father sent a letter when we first openned the account so that I would have unlimited access, but they still have a problem everytime.
I can't blame all of the Americredit represntatives, because some of them really went out of their way to fix what the others screwed up, and I am not saying don't finance a car with them. I would just like Americredit to maybe organize and monitor their representatives a little better. I have one year left of my car loan, I hope it goes well!
