I like most people here have had unpleasent experiences with AmeriCredit. After I got out of the service and before I started a new job I had missed a payment. They were relentless on calling. Sunday morning bright and early hounding me and hounding me.
But that's not the kicker.
I had applied for and accepted a job in New Mexico. I currently reside in Hawaii. To ship my vehicle from Hawaii to the mainland I need a letter from the finance company giving the shipping company permission to ship the vehicle.
As I call to get the info they need to ship the vehicle they inform me that I have to have proof of insurance to cover the amount OWED on the loan. NOT what the fair market value is on what the truck is worth.
When I asked how I was supposed to get the additional coverage they made it seem so simple. "Oh just call your insurance company and ask for the additonal coverage" When i mentioned that is normally called "gap" insurance they either played dumb or were dumb and didn't know that's what it is.
To amuse them I called my insurance company and asked. I must say USAA Insurance is an awesome company. The lady there took time out of her own work schedule to try and call the finance company to resolve the issue as she has never heard of this practice. When my insurance lady tried 3 way between herself, her supervisor and a AmeriCredit rep the rep hung up on them!!!
When I aske why then GAP insurance isn't required from the start they say it's not their policy. BUT for me to ship my vehicle I need GAP insurance to cover the full amount between Fair market value and amount owed. When I asked what happens if on the way home i crash and total the car you won't get the full amount and that's okay but to ship a vehicle i need to have this crazy coverage. Again clueless.
So without much success and making numerous phone calls I resorted to placing the guilt trip on them saying I will lose a job on the fact I can't ship my one an only car. I don't have the money to pay towards it, i can't sell it without being under. I could possible re-finance but i'm less then 2yrs from completeling the loan. So right now AmeriCredit has me by the balls and tomorrow I have to call what I thought would be my new employer and tell them I can't come because of this horrible company.
The thing that pissed me off the most was the lack of compassion on their part. Only thing i kept here was "Sorry, can't help you" NO, let me look into it, etc. Trying to get a supervisor on the phone is asking for a miracle.
I see i'm running out of room here but I'm pretty pissed now.
STAY AWAY FROM AMERICREDIT.

Something else I don't understand. Why harass you at work with the threat of having your job? If you get canned then Ameri-Credit will certainly not get their money. So they are slitting their own throats. Cheers!

ship your car anyway

Americredit is full of baloney as you well know. Ship your car. Your insurance company is the only one that needs to know about it. I can't see why a finance company would care because if something happens in transit your insurance will cover. The insurance the carrier has will also help cover.
Americredit is just trying to get under your skin. And it sounds like they are upset that you actually might want to move to another state. Oh no! Just move and ship your car. Who cares about Americredit. From what you said about the three way between your insurance company, you , and Americredit, sounds like you're in the clear. Don't let some pain in the a*s you don't know make your life miserable.
But I would try to get a re-fi immediately to get Ameri-hell out of the picture completely. Might also look into small claims court in New Mexico just to be annoying to them. Enjoy!

Michael, thanks for your comments.
Unfortunately I did not have the privelege of reading those said documents. When I purchased my truck they were having a tough time finding someone to finance me. We kept calling and calling the dealership to find out what was going on. The whole time having the truck.
Two months later we find out it's AmeriCredit and they are hounding us for money. Well I can't pay you money if I don't know you are my lender.
If I had known that or search more I wouldn't have accepted it.

I ALMOST took a loan out through these guys but after reading their arbitration agreement I decided there was no way in hell I was going to do that. You're right about them having you by the balls but they are a subprime lender so they gotta okay rough once in a while. But I still would rather pound my balls flat with a wooden mallet than take a loan out with Ameri-Hell. One second late on a payment and Guido and Loui are at your door demanding your checkbook or your wife. Makes me shudder!
