I rebuilt a 1970 chevy stepside truck. This was 2 1/2 year project to ensure it was done completely and with quality work. I finally got it up and running in december and wanted a stereo, alarm and automatic door locks. I had done some business with Audio express in the past so went back there for this work (previous was a simple radio exchange). Told them what i wanted. The manager Josh and an install tech went out to check out the truck and see what needed to be done. They had suggested baffles as the speakers would be going into holds already made in the doors (from old speaker application). Then they began discussing other options. I told them to decide the best and let me know. When i picked up the truck, they said they were unable to locate the ignition wire as i had the entire truck rewired and apparently (from audioexpress) the color coding was not the same. So they were not able to wire the ignition shut off switch. We then proceeded to check out. I would need a stereo, speakers, baffles, acuators for the remote door controls, alarm. I paid and brought the truck back the next day for installation.
I went back to my wiring guys to adjust my digital dash and asked them about the ignition shut off switch. They connected it easily and told me the installers had unhooked my taillight wires. They corrected everything and i have had no issues. with that portion. After a couple of weeks, my passenger door lock stopped working. I looked down through the window slit to see it it was hung up. While doing so, i noticed no baffles on my speaker but some sound insulation tape. I went back to the store on a day Josh was not present but my sales man Chad was. I told him my issues. several other techs were present who were present the day i initially went in and one stated he told them we needed heavy duty accuators on the doors because of the age of the truck. Chad told me to come back tomorrow when Josh would be at work. I went back the next day and Josh was not aware of any issues (chad obviously did not inform him of visit the day before. I told him of my issue with the door remotes and he said he could order the heavy duty ones (never went out to look at the truck to see if anything is wrong). When asked about the baffles, he looked up on the computer what was actually done and it showed they installed the sound proofing tape instead of the baffles $120 with $80 for installing. I asked about this when i paid for $200 for baffles (no install) and he said i told them to do what then thought was best. I told him to let me know prior to install and i thought i was paying for baffles. I would never pay $120 for 8 pieces of this tape when i can get it from my truck parts place for 1/6 that price. I also think the install price was to make up the difference in the $200 for the baffles as 1. the door panels were already out due to install of speaker and 2. it would take 5 min to place the tape so where is $80 worth of install time?
I also had an issue with the installation of the speakers. There were already holes in the door and screw holes in which clip nuts had been used to secure the old speakers (i removed them during the rebuild so i know how they were in). The installer instead drilled new holes so close to the old ones that in a few months of slamming these old heavy doors will result in the holes tearing out. He even admitted they have these clip nuts (not sure the real name but what was raised calling them) so not sure why they were not used.
I am willing to buy the new accuators with the old ones being removed, and price taken off my bill. Also want the price of the labor for installing the tape removed. Remember i had no install fee on the baffles so why install on tape? I paid over $900 for all this and expect a quality job. After 2 1/2 years, i could have given them more time to do a good job but NOOOOO. They rushed and did an incomplete and sloppy job.

After another meeting with the manager, Josh, we came to an agreement. Not only did he agree to upgrade the accuators, he agreed to reinstall the speakers and even reimburse me for the lose of euschusians during the installation. Josh was very understanding. Work was completed to my satisfaction and i will return to buy equipment from them. My salesman, Chad, was very supportive and i think the sales staff, overall, is knowledgeable. I do still have some issues with installation and will go else where for the install but i do like their products and will buy knowing they support their equipment. Thank Josh
