I am a 51 year old women who finally decided to return to school. When I decide to enroll in Axia college, University of Phoenix I was called several time by an  enrollment counselor. I explained to her I wanted to enroll but did not want to attend until my financial aid process was complete.

I then spoke with the financial aid councelor I explained the same to her, I would rather wait until everything was in place. The Friday July 3, 2010 before class started she told me everything was fine I could start with out any issues.

On July 29 I had not heard anything from her and I called in to get an update, she then told me my loans could not be requested until my NSLDS was updated I asked her why she had not informed me of this fact in the begining again I would not have started class. I had previously given her a clearance letter from my former college which stated they released the funds.

Most colleges would have excepted that but they told me they had changed the process and they did not except that any more, I asked them to provide me with the documentation that informs students that they had changed the process. I have requested this information from several managers and to date have not received this in writting.

I informed them that if they would share this information with students up front the student would more than likely wait until everything is clear before starting class.

Then I realized they already knew that and that would cause enrollment to drop, because students would more than likely wait to enroll. But because it is a numbers game with them(attrition) and is not really about the student or the education the student will receive.

After calling the Unbuzman office and reported them they posted a little of my financial aid but when the large amout came in which would have been given to me for supplies and other educational cost they started playing games and telling me one thing on Monday then on Wednesday the story changed.

Then when I said I was going to withdraw they started telling me things like I would be sent to a collection agency, and I will owe them money. Now mind you I had only taken 2 classes I refused to start the second set because of the financial situation.

I provided them with everything that was needed I received a full pell grant and full loans. Before I started class in the 3 weeks from enrollment to start date the tuition went up.

They try to confuse you when they speak to you about your financial aid. I believe they must gain interest on you fnancial aid and that is why they try to hold on to it and they make you feel like they are doing you a favor, when in fact you have to pay the money back not them.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a business, in fact I am not sure if I want to go to school any more. I have waited this long to be treated like this it was a horrible experience the lies. I am a honor student with a 3.85GPA and to be exposed to this was just a mess.

Please do not enroll they will be real nice at first, they will call you everyday until you enroll, then you admissions counselor will disapear and everyone else acts like you owe them. Students should get together a file a suit against them.

Enroll in a regular college that has online.

Take Responsibility

AUTHOR: UoP_Dotson - (United States of America)

I am an enrollment advisor and I know that students are sometimes so excited about school that they don't read everything that they sign.  You have to take responsibility for reading what you sign because it is the same information that is quoted to all students.

You do not make any sense

First of all, I have to inform you and this might be news to you, but financial aid is to pay for your school. Second of all you have to do some basic math and calculate the amount of money that comes to the school and then the amount of money that the school needs to keep for tuition and fees. If all you qualify is for loans, I will have to give you the bad news that you will not get any money back. The cost for every class of Axia is $1095 (before July 1, 2011) and the resource fee is $80. Assuming you do not have to pay taxes on the resource fee in your state, the school will need $4700 to cover the first four classes. Your first disbursement is going to be $4750 (9500 divided by 2), so you will only get to keep $50. Your $50 will arrive 10 to 14 days after disbursement; depending on whether you selected direct deposit or not.

Now if I were you, I would concentrate my efforts in passing my classes with a grade higher than a "C." You see, you need to have a 2.00 GPA to continue receiving financial aid. Another thing you need to know is that you need to pass 67% of the credits attempted, so try not to drop any classes. You should know this by now, you get a weekly email from your academic counselor reminding you to actually go to class. The good news is that once you complete 24 credits, you will be able to borrow $10500 that academic year. Now, I recommend you only borrow what you need because you will have to pay all of your loans at some point.

With the whole NSLDS issue mentioned before, I have to say that the university does not receive a daily report from NSLDS. It is your responsibility to keep your past loans in proper deferment and forbearance before you go to the university. The department of education reports NSLDS and a lot of the time many schools receive the NSLDS issue when you are already in class. The good thing is that if you stop complaining and just get it cleared with your lenders and the department of education, you can continue going to school. Try consolidating some of your loans... It will help!

I got into this college with no problem. I was sent an email and a call said i was ready to start. They said the total cost was 9500.00, i got a letter not until Jan 2011 saying my loan was 3000.00 which they got 9500.00. All i got back in December 2010 was 66.00 and a check last month for the same and i was told that this was all i would get. I took an exam the 9th week of my first 9 week block and the exam showed i got 20 out of 30 right which was suppose to be a C or C+ but got an D-. I reported it to the teacher and also to the college and no good either. I got to looking and i seen that i had two extra right so it would be 22 out of 30 so that would raise my grade up more. I showed them the proof and got a letter two weeks ago and they said they could not do anything about it at all and it stands as is. I was cheated out of my grades, and also money as well and they need to do something about this college fast. I will reply to anyone about this and also U.O.P has a BBB also and you cannot report them to one because it will be turned over to the college and that is not fair.
