Bob's Discount Furniture Misrepresentation False advertising fraud deceit, damaged furniture and reputation 3 purchases all sour! Salem Masachussets

Our first experience with Bobs was our parent disaster story of all mis-matched and broken furniture delivered to their new home. All was replaced and they were given a $100 gift card for their problems. They gave it to us, we figured wed shop. They tried to fix their wrong showing good faith.

Last year we purchased a leather living room set. I think it was advertised as the marshmallow sofa set. Id say thats what the frame was made out of. Just outside the warrantee period (this week) it has broken right in the middle front; similar to what another poster complained of. Were waiting for a Goof Proof person to come and look.

He will also be checking out the mattress Bob-o-pedic that we purchased just 6 months ago. Wanna know where we slept? Look at the mattress. Appears our mattress has Alzthimers and forgot how it was suppose to react. They will be checking this out as well. (Its worth noting these were delivered, almost an hour late and with a supposed balance due as a result of a clerical error at their office).

This weekend, we went to Bobs Discount Furniture in Salem NH to not only ask about the bed and couch, but purchase dressers for our daughters. The salespersons reassured us the coach and bed would be taken care of and it must be just a fluke. Again, good faith shown to our parents to us meant another chance was warranted. We chose a higher end model that would last with hopes theyd take it with them when they were ready for college. We chose the Rio with this description: Words cannot describe the value of my "Rio" bedroom! You get a bedroom that's made of all solid pine. You get a bedroom with features like felt lined drawers in the chest, night stand and the top center drawer of the dresser; a bedroom with brushed aluminum drawer pulls; a bedroom with spindle accents on the mirror and headboard; and you get all this for only $799! The "Rio" bedroom... only at my Bob's Discount Furniture!
Not sure about you, but to me SOLID PINE means just that. Solid. We chose this at the store because the showroom model allowed us to see the tongue and groove draws that we know are more durable than metal rails. This is what we saw but NOT what we got. Because of the upgrade, we choose to pick up the furniture. Upon arrival, the order was messed up and only one dresser was ready. That was quickly corrected and my husband was advised he need not open all boxes as they are new and not returns.

We unload the first one, open the box and thought it was neat that they secured the draws from opening during shipment. Unfortunately, it was that they were all broken. The rails, which were NOT SOLID PINE and not tongue and groove, were metal with screws. Most screws were either broken or sticking up, keeping the draws from opening. A large chunk of wood appeared to have been glued together by a young child.

Second dresser had draws that opened, but were all wobbly or c**k-eyed. A call to Bobs resulted in just a, Were sorry. Well refund your money after you return the furniture to us. If they were willing to pay us the delivery charge wed have considered it. We then opened the first of 2 nightstands and were HAPPY to see it was solid pine and tongue and groove. Just what we saw in the store as advertised. A call to the store and it was agreed they would ship out two new dressers and if they were solid wood tongue and groove we would accept delivery. If not, they would take all pieces and refund our money.

Second nightstand put us right back where we started. Not only was it metal rack draws again but it practically fell apart when we took it out of the box. The back looked like someone under the influence missed 12 times with the staple gun used to attach the bottom. The back was cracked and warped, as were the draws. And right on the back of the brand new mangled nightstand was a nice crooked golden sticker stating Made In Brazil. I guess it was wrong to assume the Solid wood was American wood and the real reason the prices were so cheap were because they were imported.

We now had enough as it appeared Bob and his crew could care less if we were happy or not. They are coming Saturday to take back all of the furniture. Only problem now is we cant even shop for new furniture until Tuesday as they say thats how long it will take to process our credit. Thats what happens when you pay cash!

Buyer beware! The Discount in Bobs title means not only in price, but quality, truth, craftsmanship, customer service and more. Bobs is deceiving its customers by selling merchandise based on floor models, but replacing it without customer knowledge.
