After paying more than $3000 for our two tickets we decided to pay the extra money to book our seats in advance to be together (my wife and me) the day of the departure: Phoenix-LAX, LAX-London, London-Alicante. So we book the seats, we paid $116 to have peace of mind and not to worry anymore.

24 hours before departure we received the email to print the boarding passes. Oops! We did not have any seats assigned! So we plaid the game to try to find seats together and indeed after quite sometimes we succeeded. 

The next day we were departing and when I met a representing of British airways and I complained He gave me a card and told me to call UK or to write to UK to complain.

After some research as I was waiting at the airport I was able to logon to British airways and post a seat refund on their site. The answer came back with no evidences that my seats were not assigned.

When I came back I sent the evidences with the receipts of my booking of seats and the scan of the boarding passes of my wife and me. No way always the same answer, no evidence. It seems that once they have made a reply they always send the same email whatever you do.

I think that these people have really not the same culture as US citizen (I am now US citizen). They think that we are trying to cheat them. They cannot understand why we will pay $3000 for the tickets and then try to get back $118 that we paid on top of the tickets just for the heck of it. They stole my money, they did not give me the service I should have received and then they just insult thinking that I am trying to be dishonest.

British Airways represented by their customer service is not a company I will recommend to any US citizen. Just keep using the American companies at least they have the right values, as honesty and customer service, and their customer services are based in the US. For my family (kids and grandkids) and my co-workers at Honeywell, I am spreading the word of mouth not to use any more British Airways and even any company that have not any representation in the US. I posted this complaint on different web site to hope it will help people.
