carmax sold me a car that i had to take back to get fixed 4 times in the first 5 months. My airconditioning has not worked properly from the very begining, and carmax says that they can not fix it. They have told me that " we are not the only place to get your car fixed" however, i bought the car from them and i want them to fix it. I purchased the car for 17,000 dollars just 8 months ago and now the trade in value is only 7,000 dollars, so i am stuck with this bogas purchase.
This car was a major purchase for me and i have had nothing but problem after problem with it. In some cases when i have brought the car in to be fixed they have made the problem worse by not knowing what they are doing. I had transmission slipage and took the car in, and when i got it back they said i had to much transmission fluid in the car. i drove it home and it was seriously messed up. i brought it back, and they said that they checked the fluid wrong and had acctually drained out way to much of the fliud, which may have damaged the transmission worse. I live in south florida with an aircondition that only works rarely. The company has done nothing to help me. I have spoke to several managers, whom have done nothing to help.
One manager i spoke to named rick, was very rude, promised to fix the car and returned it still unfixed. I am stuck with this car that i will probablly always have problems with and i just dont think it is fair. Carmax prides themselves in selling quality cars, but this is simple not the case for me. IF anyone can help me please do.

The only way to get any degree of satisfaction is to call the customer service number: 800-519-1511. Tell them EVERYTHING that's happened. I spoke w/a representative there & she was able to help me. I couldn't get anywhere with the local store. Keep on it. Don't give up!! It took me 3 months and a trip to the ER, but I finally got my situation resolved. I was able to get my money back (+tax), but only had 10 days to find another car. I took a reliable make I can trade in elsewhere. Good luck.

Why did you buy a $17,000 used car?

What was the attraction of that used car that made you willing to pay $17,000 for it when you could have bought a NEW Honda Civic or NEW Toyota Corolla for $15,000 ??? And both the Honda & the Toy have VERY LOW depreciation rates.... A year later your $15,000 Civic or Corolla would be worth $12,825.
Maybe next time, no?
B/t/w if you "purchased the car for 17,000 dollars just 8 months ago and now the trade in value is only 7,000 dollars" that is 59% depreciation in less than one year!! Did you buy a Citroen?

You should really try to have your sales consultant stay on top of their game, typically when I have a customer whom may have an issue I try taking care of it right away. Havent had any complaints to date about carmax's service. If what you say is true, than that is unique even to me
