If your used car is offerred with a 3month or more CARS Protection Plus warranty -- Buyer Beware!!!

The warranty/policy is junk and they will not cover the failure that seems to be within the coverage.  In their terms and conditions, for whatever failure the claim focus on, the part needs to be torn down to reveal the fault -- this labor is the owner's responsibility.  For example, the automatic transmission on my car failed (the torque converter clutch was probably the issue) and the fault code spit out by the computer was consistent with similary failures for this make and model (VW Golf).  However, the insurance agent told my shop that the transmission had to be fully dismantled before the inspector would come out and the cost of his hours and hours of labor was my responsibility.

As I mentioned, this policy is a complete scam -- don't buy it and stay away from any used car shop that offers it.

The used auto shop that sold me this policy was Automotion Unlimited in Ozone Park (Queens), NY.

A Message to Our Customers

AUTHOR: CARS Protection Plus - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, March 09, 2015

Protection Plus, Inc. has provided service to over 1 million customers since 1998. As much as we would like to please everyone, the reality is quite challenging. Compared to the number of contracts issued, our complaints are well below average for a company our size. We maintain an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau because when an unbiased third-party looks into a complaint, the result is CARS has acted ethically and in compliance with the terms and conditions of the service contract. Although we have a proven track record under third-party review, some customers interpret being limited to the level of coverage they have purchased as poor customer service. Unfortunately, nothing we say or do will change these opinions.

Finding the right service contract to fit a customer’s individual needs can be challenging. To further assist with this process, CARS has created an Educational Guide to help with understanding service contracts. Our guide is available via eBook, and can be found here: http://www.carsprotectionplus.com/online-ebook-download
