Found myself in a tight spot without a car. Had insurance money from an injury wreck, but noone would finance me without a paystub; which I couldnt get without a car. So bit the bullet and paid cash for an older truck, to be honest one the main selling point that got was that the car was inspected and could be warrantied by said company. Looking back everything that was said to me by the dealership and the warranty company was a lie.  Live and learn.

So I got onboard with Cars, the second I got home I filed the warranty claim to make sure I was covered at the 30 day mark. I called right before I faxed to make sure I had everything and was told it would be processed in 24-72 hours.  After 9 days I gave them a call to see what the progress was. I was transferred to 3 people, to finally tell me it hadnt been processed yet.  That person told me a few weeks. I finally get my card in the mail.

My warranty starts the 26th. On the 29th my transmission goes out. just blows out on the highway with out any warning. Sweet, bought a lemon. Good thing I got into the warranty right? No. The nice old lady at the transmission shop has owned and operated that store since 1967. She told me she was yelled at denied any claim to the warranty. Due to it "being a previous condition." She informed me that CARS is the worst company shes ever worked with. Right there I should've pulled the plug. But in balancing my cost to benfit ratio for future problems I stuck in there. So i paid all $1600 to get my transmission rebuit.

I started fixing things on this truck I've never done, in desperation to get it moving safely and not havving confidence that I will be ok warranty wise if something fails. Its a laundry list of parts that I replaced.

Due to health reasons I had to take leave from work again for a surgery. The truck just sat in the drive, I figured they cant deny me again if something goes wrong so many months have gone by. 5 months to be exact.

I have been without income at this point for an extended period of time. I have money in my accounts but I am playing chess with pennies ever so delicately.

ON A SIDE NOTE:

This health incident has opened my eyes to the gaps in our healthcare and social programs. I was not injured at work so I did not get workers comp. I was not out of work for more than 12 months so I didnt get disability. I could not actually work so I could not recieve unemplyment benefits. I was saved entirely by a good auto insurance plan and my parents.  I would be homeless on the streets. 100% for sure. There was not one single program to help me. So if you plan on getting injured for more than a week and less than a year; get short-term diability. My state doesnt require it, others do.

And we're back.

So basically, a big thing went through my checking, I hadnt moved money over yet.

Not that I had any idea when the payment actually went through, it was small. And I didnt recieve a single piece of correspondance digital or print. informing of anything really. Not one piece of mail. Except for the initial card, and the cancellation notice. Now I have to ver batum this letter cause its language is exactly how they talk to you on the phone as well...via contract:

Dear Mr. Bigglesworth

Please be advised we have canceled the Independence service contract on your P.O.S. truck Vin#010101 beacuse the credit card on file has declined for your renewal.

Our contract clearly states; "A new contract will begin a month after the effective date for the original purchaser, as long as payment continues, up to a maximum vehicle mileage of 200k miles. If the credit card referenced has insufficient funds at the time of payment, my service contract shall terminate." Therefore, your service contract with CARS Protection Plus Inc is void and can not be reinstated.

Sincerely, We are scumbags

 

Friendly right? The language reminds me alot of the IRS. What kind of a company cancels a policy from a missed payment? You would assume that they would like to retain their customers and build a large base? But wouldnt be easier to just cancel out contracts that you havent had to pay out too and pocket the cash? I very glad I didnt drop alot of cash like some have on their plans. I have read numverous reports on here about them refusing payment, and whatnot; I wish I had read this site closer and not trusted the BBB. What a joke. How uninvolved are the beaurocrats at the BBB to allow those clowns an A+. 90% of the reviews are negative, how does that work BBB? But honestly, I wonder how many people a year they cancel their contracts out and just pocket their cash?

This is not a service contract for someone with good or even less than great credit. This is a contract service that diretly targets poor people. I was in a tough spot and had to get wheels; many people find themselves in the same situation. This is scam diretly aimed at people buying old cars for cash and looking for a way to keep there heads above water if it bombs out.

I'm not as angry about my money being lost as I am that this is something that could really be hurting people. Someone could be dropping 300 a month to payout their contract early and BAM! you know car accident or whatever.  That guys got 9 months in a $300 and whoops! Canceled! At that point there would lawyers involved on my part, which from reading some posts they are getting sued quite a bit. But how many people like me a year a getting nickel and dimed and canceled out? I mean were talking 10's if not 100's of thousands of dollars just from a cancellation policy. Crooks.

 

Somebody please put a stop to these scumbags I mean is it the mob? How are they doing this to people?  If any lawyer reads this please do something to stop these monsters.

 

To reiterate,

Worst customer service, ever. You must work around their schedule.

Specifically targets low income families into a false sense of security. (Possibly leaning on the fact that poor people cant afford lawyers.)

Will steal all your money and fight you all the way to court.

Denials, Canceling contracts, Scumbaggery.

Somebody please stop these A HOLES
