After holding a Home Depot card backed by Citi Bank for 5 years they sent me to collections before my bill was due. I had a few months of struggling with finances and called them every month when I could not make the minimum payment and every time I talked to them they told me pay what you can because we were such good customers. The collection came out of the blue. No warning at all.

The pinheads at Citi Bank are in for a big surprise. I just love representing myself in court as Pro se. Plus I know enough about civil law I can cost them a fortune in attorneys fees and win. Basically my bill was due on the 21st of the month. On the 10th of the month I received bogus court papers from the attorney's representing them. The idiots thought I would cowar and sign and notorize a waiver of service for the summons. Their court papers did not have a case number or any stamp of a court clerk. The date of the court hearing was also bogus. I am not on the court docket for the date they gave.

Since my bill came on the 5th of the month, it is my contention that I had until the 21st to pay my minimum payment and become current on my payments before they could send me to collections. The collectors said they would not take less than the full balance or sign a volunteer judgement and make payments for a year. They also told me to mail any payments to them.

So I went to the local Home Depot with my bill before the 21st and paid the full payment in cash which brought me current with my payments. I have not received my bill for this month and probably will not. So I will use my previous bill this month to make twice the minimum payment. The people at Home Depot do not look at the dates they just scan the account code.

Now I am just waiting to see if they have the guts to actually file a suit on me.

Hey Seriously and Chef. Go pound sand. You have nothing better to do than to insult strangers with name calling. You have no life and you probably stab your fellow workers in the back at work. That is, if you have a job. The two of you are probably getting the 99 weeks of unemployment and food stamps. Wish I would have noticed this a long time ago, but I have been busy making money during the day and writing motions at night. I'm not afraid to take on the "Too Big to Fail" jokers. Of course you probably think they deserved the bail out. If all you have to share on this website is insults, it's not welcome. So go to the mailbox and see if your unemployment check is there. PINHEADS!

Citibank reneged on payment plan

AUTHOR: Victoria - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 24, 2012

I am unemployed and have not been successful in finding a job due to my advanced age of 61. Last year I contacted Citicard customer service and they provided me with a payment plan of $275.00 per month wherein they took the money electronically out of my checking account on their designated date. I had no control over when they took the money.

This month they sent me a statement showing that I owe them $428.34 with a $25.00 late fee on 4/9/2012, even though they took my $275.00 payment on 4/6/2012. Since they were responsible for taking my money from my checking account, wouldn't it be their error not mine?

Arguing with them proved fruitless. It was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had.

Right?

I am so sorry but I had to go show your post to my husband, then we both sat down and had good laugh! Thanks! I'm so sure that you called the bank and told them you can't pay your credit card bill and they said "oh no worries dude your a great guy, just pay whatever you want when ever you want" unless you called at like 2:AM when they were closed and the cleaning lady answered the phone. Your first clue should have been when she asked you to bring more lemon pledge.

I agree with the 2nd post you are a stupid customer!

Leaves me only to wonder if you are so stupid that you think you story is believable or if you just think the rest of us are that stupid.

Really, how dare the credit card company try to collect the money you owe them!

good luck with that

You are another stupid consumer, Let me let you in on a little secret so when you fo to court and represent yourself.

1. when you dont make the monthly minimum payment your account it automatically goes into default

2. So how is it they put your account into collections before it was due? when you admit you could not pay the minimum amount do for a few months? Therefor you account was already past due

3. Now according to you how were you going to explain were you all of a sudden came up with the full amount DUE and are going to make double payments on your card.

4. Why would they file a law suit NOW when you are up to date paying your bill??? They did what they wanted they ruined your credit by sending you account into collections. Good luck trying to get that fixed. If you take them to court all they have to do is enter this report into evidence were you admit to not being able to pay the minimum amount DUE. Most lawyers would consider this an open and shut case.
