We accidentally made an extra electronic payment on our car loan.  This caused our account to overdraft. We called asking for a refund of our extra payment and initially they had no problem with it.  But that all changed within a few days.  Because we don't have a checking account with them,They said we needed to verify that both payments cleared our bank and to fax our bank statement to them to prove it.  I did, blacking out our account number, but not thinking to black out our balance.

They called a week later, two weeks into trying to get our refund, and said they couldn't refund our money because our checking account was in the negative.  We told them it's in the negative because of their check.  There is no reasoning with them.

I have put off paying most of our bills because of this.  Our mortgage is coming due on the first of the month as well as our natural gas.

I don't understand how they can use our balance against us when they just asked for verification that the checks cleared our banks.  Not once did they say they needed to check our account balance.  They used our personal information against us and I do not appreciate it.  I also do not appreciate the fact that my mortgage is going to be late because they just wanted to use our money for free.
