Compact Appliance Refusal to stand behind their products Austin Texas

Compact Appliance is a perfect example of an internet run business that cares nothing for the consumer once they have made their money from the sale. They have been rude, abrupt and unwilling to do anything to stand behind the very people that have spent their hard earned money with them. The sales staff is helpful and enthusiastic to write the order, but after that....You're on your own.

I am a General Contractor. Back on December 30th, 07 we took advantage of an advertised sale and purchased an icemaker and a 5 yr warranty from C. A. for my client. The icemaker was delivered to my client in a box that was damaged on the outside, but showed no signs of penetration or dents etc. The unit was placed in a closed storage area until the renovation progressed to the point that we could install the unit. There was no way of knowing whether the unit was serviceable until it was plumbed in. Once in, the unit spewed water all over the new cabinets and wood flooring....not once, but three times over two months!!! The company set up to service the unit came out four times and never solved the problem. The unit never worked from the start! The client doesn't want the unit in there any longer as they don't want to take the chance of ruining an expensive hardwood floor when it blows again. So, we have a "boat anchor" shaped like an icemaker with a five year warranty. If only I'd have bought a piece of iron instead.

Just because the company says it isn't "responsible" doesn't make it's so. They enjoyed the profit from the sale and they have a responsibility to stand behind their work or product.
