Compass Bank ripoff on direct deposit with NSF check fees, incorrect posting time Chandler Arizona

Ironically, I was reading the Compass NSF rip-off stories today, before I checked my mailbox. Turns out Compass charged me an NSF check fee on 2/9, even though the money should have been in my account prior to thier posting time.

At the time of opening my account with Compass, I was informed by a teller that debits do not post before credits. I was not concerned either way, however, because she said that both post at midnight, MST, in my area (Phoenix, AZ). I work for Sears Holdings, who's direct deposits post at midnight central time, because of thier location in Hoffman Estates.

I verified the deposit time, which is 11pm during some of the year, and 10pm AZ Time through the other part of the year, with Sears, and I also had had direct deposits go through my Arizona Federal CU account at the 11pm time. However, I checked the night of the 9th and morning of the 10th until my funds were deposited. Mysteriously, they were not deposited until around 2am, MST, two hours after midnight, when they should have been avaliable at the latest.

This is the first incident and will be the last. I kept my AZFCU account open and will be switching back to that CU as my primary banking institution, regardless of the recompense that Compass offers. I could understand if the deposit was posted at midnight, however, it wasn't.

Compass is clearly a worthless bank and I will not let myself be CHEATED out of my hard earned money again. I'll take the two dollar surcharge on a few ATM withdrawls a month over a ridiculous charge like this one. Compass is a very shady bank, and I wouldn't be suprised to see them face legal action in the near future.
