On June 12th I came home to find a letter from the water company stating that my bill had not been paid in 2 months. I jumped online and pulled up my Compass account. I went to the PayBills section, only to find that my account had been locked out. I called the 800 number and was told, to my surprise, that none of my bills that I had paid online for the last month were actually paid. They said that they were told by Compass that I no longer authorized them to pay my bills. We contacted 'customer care'. They were rude and told me that nothing was wrong with my account. Then they said that Paybills had the wrong banking codes on the payments. After using this since 2001? I don't think so. The Compass rep (in AZ no less) told me to write a check to pay my bills or my checkcard - funny, the water company wanted cash - no debit cards! As I began to dig further, 2 of my husbands and 1 of my car notes was not paid, 2 months of Chevron gas card bills, gas, power, internet, etc all not paid - along with credit card bills. So you can imagine that I'm getting late fees and returned check fees, etc. I went to my local Compass and I have never been so mad in my life when I left there and was told I needed to pay my bills. I looked at the customer service manager in disbelief and said "I thought I had". She repeatedly told me that she couldn't help me. So now, it's 2 weeks later and after 5 messages left with Frank in the AZ customer care - he has yet to return my phone calls. And it gets even better - now one of my credit cards has closed my account because 2 payments were returned, which in turn will lower my credit rating. I HATE COMPASS BANK..... I am ready to close this account, but I can't because I can't get these issues resolved.
