In the bank they have posted that deposits made after 2pm will be posted to the next day. This is not true with Compass Bank. About 1 1/2 yrs ago, I deposited 1500.00 cash on a Saturday morning. My monies was not available until the following Tuesday Night at Midnight, which was Wednesday. I was pissed and expressed myself with the local branch as well as the Corp office. They all seemed to be having as bad a day as I was, and all they can say is 'We are not an online bank, we have to batch to home office in Alabama'.

We just made a payroll check deposit on Friday, and to find out our monies are not available until Monday night at Midnight. This is Tuesday anyway you look at it. That is not the next Business day. Because of this we now have an NSF charge of 38.00 x 2, and the checks were returned. Again, the same story. We asked...so, you can debit immediately, but not deposit? They say 'yes' like it's just an everday event. The Consumer must just endure. I am fed up with it, and from what I am reading now on the internet, there seems to be multiple complaints with Compass Bank.

What can be done to address this arrogance and incompetency?

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

when did you write the checks....

AUTHOR: Sweet1 - (U.S.A.)

Obviously you wrote them BEFORE the deposit was made, Before you had money in the account. You say that Compass is incompetent but it seems that YOU are incompetent. Keep a register and don't use THE BANK'S money and you won't be charged. If you make your deposit on Friday and they say it will post on the next business day (Monday) you should not write checks before then. The deposit will post Monday night. Since checks do not usually clear the same day you write them if you had not written them a couple of days PRIOR to making your deposit you would have been OK. STOP BLAMING EVERYONE ELSE FOR YOUR MATHEMATICAL SHORTCOMINGS AND TAKE OWNERSHIP OF YOUR SITUATION.

Business Days

AUTHOR: Ken - (U.S.A.)

The Federal Reserve Bank is not open on Saturday or Sunday, so for banking purposes, neither of these days is considered a business day. So, a deposit made between 2pm on Friday and 2 pm on Monday is all considered Monday's business, and will hit your account Monday night. Pretty much all commercial banks operate in this manner.

Two suggestions: if you can, switch to Direct Deposit for your paycheck. You will have full access to your funds a whole lot sooner. Second, consider switching to a savings bank, or better yet, a credit union. For the most part they operate in a 'real time' environment where the entire transaction is completed right at the teller window, and if you ask, they can tell you exactly when and how much is available.
