I purchased my TV in 2013 July for $2500 from Alltimetvs.com and paid ~$400 for 6 year warranty from CPS. Within 2 Years of use screen got corrupted with a dark patch. When claimed the file with CPS they were prompt to send the technician and calling me back.

The issue started when the technician invoiced the estimated invoice costs closer to purchase price. CPS immediately said that the Sharp TV has issues with 70" model especially mine and they are not making 70" screens anymore and so they cannot get it repaired. They suggested that many customers are getting their money back from Sharp and hence I need to do the same too. I tried calling them and no use (obviously didnt expect them to cover as I dont have extended warranty with Sharp).

I called CPS back and they initially said they cannot do much and offered to refund my extended warranty fee (~$400) back. I contacted my legal and he suggested to decline it and contact them for negotiation before proceeding legally.

I calld them back and then Steve offered me ~$700/$1000 option especially indicating that they would pay me the market value of my tv that they researched. They provided me a link for Sharp 70" at Searsoutlet. I noticed that they were looking up a wrong model for settlement as my TV is a 240HZ and 3D TV, a similar model was priced at ~$2500.

I declined the offer indicating the same and requesting them to get me the market price link for a similar model, which they said they would. Now here is the interesting part, when they called me back the whole story changed - They now said that they claim that most of the customers with similar model at getting paid the above offered settlement and not the market price. The market price was at one point of time and not anymore so no link. HA!

But as they messed it up they will pay me $100 more than what was offered.

I clearly mentioned them that I will proceed legally and I will not be able to accept the offer, but before I do that I want everyone to be aware of the tactics they will pull. All I need is a fair offer for total price paid ~$2900 (TV + Extended warrantY) and not a rip off.

I will keep you updated on the proceedings.
