When I purchased my broadband modem I was told to wait 45 days before I made my claim for my $50.00 rebate.

I waited 45 days and then mailed in my forms, proof of purchase, receipts etc.

Subsequently I received a letter stating that my claim was denied because it was "postmarked after the last acceptable date" and was given a phone number to call.  I called the number and found myself in a dead-end phone tree that directed me to the mycricket web site.

I went to the mycricket web site and looked for information. There, I found out that the last acceptable date for postmarks on rebate claims is 30 days after the purchase date.

Let me make this clear:

1) Claims will not be honored before 45 days of service.

2) Claims will not be honored if postmarked after 30 days from purchase.

In this system they have constructed, their aim is to honor no rebate claims.

Nice.

READ THE DOCUMENTS!

First of all Cricket does not pay out the rebates
Secondly you,as an educated counsumer, should READ ALL DOCUMENTS given to you
Third, the rebate states in black and white that you...no one else...must fill out properly and send the rebate form within thirty days of purchase...not 45 days. The 45 days is the period you must keep your new device active....45 days in a row of un-interrupted activity on the device before the rebate company will process the rebate itself. Otherwise people could buy
a device and turn around and sell it or disconnect the service and still get a rebate. SO with that being said no one is at fault here but YOU...the consumer, who didnt take the time to read the form that was given to you. Some people always want to blame someone else.
Take a look in the mirror.

Hi there. I am sorry you are upset about the rebate.

I think you were misinformed about our policy.

You have to have service for at least 45 days before your rebate is sent out but it has to be mailed no later than 30 days after you have established service with the company.

The 45 day rule basically covers your first month of free service and your second month - which you have to pay for.

I was never told why there is a 45 day wait but I can guess its because if we mailed the rebates right away people would be taking advantage of the free month ofter and the free device and just disconnecting their accounts once the 30 days were up.

However, if you feel like you were mislead, you can always go into any corporate store in Denver or Colorado Springs and talk to a RBM ( Retail Business Manager ). They will most likely give you a $50 credit to your account to cover the rebate. That's how we do in my store anyway. We actually care about your customers.

Have a good day! :)
