Every month when I pay my Cricket Cell phone bill there is a late charge. Even when I have phoned customer service or been to customer service to complain about this and I am ensured that there is no late charge, just pay the bill and everything will be straightened out next month.
The following month the same thing. This has happened for about 5 or 6 months straight. I phoned Cricket customer service on 10/22/07 and was assured that I could pay the bill at one of their machines that typically is inside a Circle K, and I wouldn't be charged the late fee. What happens? The late fee pops up and must be paid before it will allow me to pay the current month's bill. And if I didn't pay it and phoned Cricket again, then by the time it is straightened out, it will naturally incur a late fee AGAIN.
What the h___ is the problem with these people? It's as if they don't make enough money doing business that they've gotta always charge me a late fee. I haven't been late on my bill, so why the d****d fee? They must think all I have is money to spend on my cell phone bill. Wrong!

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds
To explain how payments work.....

With Cricket's service, it it month-to-month, which is due to not having a contract. Therefore, to get service for the next month, you must pay for it. Depending on how your account is currently setup, you may possibly be paying for month previous.
To break it down:
1) Your bill should show a DUE DATE. When you are paying at a Circle K, you MUST pay by 4pm EST on the DUE DATE in order for it to post the SAME business DAY, otherwise, the payment will be made the next business day. If your bill is not paid ontime, you may experience a temporary suspension of your service and be charged a $15 reinstatement fee. Per Cricket's website:
Does Cricket charge a late payment fee?
No. Cricket does not charge a traditional late payment fee. However, Cricket customers who do not pay for their service on or before their designated due date run the risk of having their service suspended and could be subject to a reinstatement fee of $15.
2) A reinstatement fee is normally charged when you pay AFTER the due date. To be sure your payment posts in time, pay the DAY BEFORE your due date. Therefore, if your bill is due on the 15th, pay on the 14th if at all possible.
How exactly are you paying your bills? If you are mailing your payment, you MUST mail your payment at least 10 days BEFORE it is due in order for it to post on-time. If you are paying online on Cricket's website, pay your bill the DAY BEFORE it is due in order for it to post on-time. If you're paying through your bank's Online Banking, check the date your payment actually ARRIVES at its destination, and NOT the date that you SEND the payment.
Please advise of your due date so I can guide you on when to actually pay your bill according to your primary and/or secondary payment method.
Hope that helps.
