My husband and I had been Direct TV costomers for a little over one year. We had been talking about changing companies for some time but had signed a 1 year commitment to using them.

The service was horrible and we would get blackouts and no service signals all the time and when we got our bill each month it always included a call to find out what exactly we were being charged for. We were supposed to be paying 73.00 per month and it was always over 100.00, sometimes up to 145.00. We would always get some person who would give us a lot of "double" talk and end up paying the bill just to get them off our back.

In January we changed our service to Insight Communications. We knew that we would have to pay Direct TV for the past service, which should of been 73.00, and didn't mind too. We just wanted to not deal with them anymore.

On February 9th, 2009, Direct TV withdrew 581.00 out of our account!!!! This has put my husband and I in an EXEREMELY bad situation. I had just been let go from my job due to my disease (lawsuit pending) and have been extremely ill. When they took the 581.00 out of our account it caused it to go into overdraft. Now we have almost 200.00 in overdraft fees. I can't even afford the 10.00 for the medication needed to get me better.

We did not receive ANYTHING from them about the fact that they were going to take the money out and they do have out email address which they didn't have a problem using when we were a couple of days late paying our bill.

When I called them about this I was told that in the contract it states that they have the right to withdraw what every amount that they feel is owed to them at the time of termination. That we were being charged an early termination fee, which we shouldn't have been charged, and 240.00 for the HD receiver which they had not received yet and we had JUST got the return box in the mail for and also for what we owed on the past due account.

I asked him what made them think that with the way the economey is today, a person would just have 600.00 in their account lying around waiting for them to come and take it. He rebuttaled that it wasn't 600.00 it was ONLY 581.00. WHAT?!!!!!!!!!

These people DO NOT CARE about the people that they service, the condition of the economy or the United States of America. They only think of themselves and if I were you I would turn and run as fast as you can if you are approached by anyone representing them. If they call tell them that you are proud to be an American, you can't afford to be apart of there communist ways and to piss off.

I just got done my Direct TV, I went to my bank and filed a dispute, it may take up to 45 days. This has truly put me in a bind. They withdrew over $1000, causing me excessive over draft fees. I noticed you said STEAL, should I switch to that word rather than unauthorized? Please HELP!

They "sucker" you into it? Please, all it takes is a little thought-any company that has access to your account will take from your account what ever is owed. Even if direct tv does push you into such things, its what you owe to them-there is no theft charge here, youre just one of those people who think they shouldnt have to pay up. Its because of people like you that direct tv does try to keep a firm handle on the consumer, if you choose to look at it that way.

They sucker you into giving them authorization to withdraw by offering a discount. Trust me, you don't want to give them access.

Overall direct tv really didnt do anything wrong, your accusation is that they are just "un-amarican"? The contract does validate everything done, just like any company if you owe money and have the automatic with draw-they will take your money. Do you really expect such a large corporation to give you money because of the economy? If anything direct tv will take what is owed to them because the economy. As for the individual who won their little court case if you pursue for "pain and suffering" its because of people like you that these businesses tighten the ropes on people like the above report, she cant buy her medication because people like you take advantage of the system. It goes in full circle.

Direct T.V. took my money and I never even had an account with them. It was for someone else's account that gave them my card number. And they refused to refund my money! This company has some nerve! I'm glad you got your money back. I'm hoping I get mine back.

Direct TV found GUILTY!!!!!

AUTHOR: Kay - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 08, 2009

This is an update from the report that I wrote above. As of 03-08-2009, when I checked my account, the balance shows a deposit of 888.00 to my account. The "protest" that I filed with the bank about Direct TV came through!!!!! They have found Direct TV GUILTY of STEALING my money and returned the money that they took along with all the overdraft fees with it, THANKS KEY BANK!!!!!
I know Direct TV is going to try and still get fees out of me because Key Bank gave me back every penny...good luck with that. As soon as I hear from them I am contacting my lawyer and filing a grievence against them and sueing them for all the suffering and stress that they caused me and my husband.
FILE THE PROTEST WITH YOUR BANK AND GET THESE BASTARDS!!!!!!!
