In Dec. 2007 I was selling my home and moved to a high rise in downtown Columbus.
I have had Direct tv on and off for a few years and liked the product. When I was about to move I called the movers hot line and was informed that they could not install the dish at my new address and I would have to cancel the service. I was told to take all the receivers with me to the NEW ADDRESS and I would get a recovery kit sent to me to place the equipment in those boxes and return them. I was at the new address for 2 weeks and still no recovery kit. I called the customer service line and spoke with Jon I was told to give it a few more days to show up. I waited a week and still no "KITS". I made yet another phone call to Direct tv customer service and was told to give it another week. On the 25th of Jan 2008 Direct tv debited my checking account $832.40 for non return of receivers which made my account over drawn so I was hit for $34.00 each transaction that tried to clear the account. I called the customer service line and was then told they had mailed the recovery kits to my old address by mistake. I called fedx with the tracking numbers that direct tv gave me and was told the driver left them on the front step of the house. I drove back to my old address and but the receivers in the boxes and mailed them back the same morning. I then started calling Direct tv let me tell this company is a joke!! I was told after 6 hours of phone calls that they did in fact take the blame for this and I was actually charged before the 30 day grace period. They didn't send out the recovery kit until Jan 2
the account was debited on the 25th. 7 days earlier than direct tv's own 30 day guide lines.
So now I'm up to almost 10 hours of calls to customer service center and when I ask to speak with the highest person in charge to get this resolved I get hung up on.
I have documented 714 times I heard the word "NO" or Can't" in these 10 hours of phone calls. Now I'm being told the will issue a refund of the $832.40 only and it would take 6 to 8 weeks.... What am I suppose to do with no money to live on for 6 to 8 weeks?
the worst customer service in the industry I'm sure of this....
