In May of 2016 , I placed an order for Directv . This order was placed with their official site ( not a retailer). I selected my package and was told a technician would be out in 2 days . I was not made aware that they subcontract these jobs out . The technician arrived on time . He searhed for a signal , but stated he could not get one due to the tree on my front lawn . He said it needed branches to be cut at least halfway down.  I told him okay , I will see what i can do. A few days later I contacted a tree guy in regards to the tree and he said he will do the job, but since tree was in full bloom, lets get the technician here on a day we could meet , so I dont cut branches we dont need too. I called Directv and they stated we will send out a lead tech for what they call a second opinion. The date was set for June 16th with a time window between 8am-12pm.  They needed no information since I was still on file and account was connected by both order # and my phone.

On June 16th i recieve a call from a woman from directv , stating my technician would be 45 minutes late . I said okay and thank you . I left my home and went to have bloodwork done . I returned home at 11:43 am. At about 1:53 pm, I recieve text message ( saved to phone) My Technician will now arrive between 1-1:30 pm. His name is christopher l.   At 1:27 pm, I recieve a call from the technician stating he will be arriving between 30-40 minutes. At 2:13 pm he arrives. Now he is over 2 hrs behind schedule. His van says directv on both sides and that is it , no mention of  sub company. We greeted each other , and i proceeded to tell him what the last technician said and went to show him the tree. I was then ready to call my tree guy (lives right across the road) . The technician says , you dont have to cut anything. I can get a signal. I am the man they call , the go to guy . I can get a signal through trees and over hills. Taking his word , since he is the specialist , I do not call to have the tree cut. He proceeds to my backyard and uses his satellite finder . He then says I will put your pole right here, and uses his heel in the lawn to mark it . Then he says I told you i would get a signal , I bet the other technician never really looked.  After he says that , he then looks through his instrument again and says I can get a better signal , if i go back 4 feet. I tell him you are now on my neighbors property . He asks , will your neighbor mind. I said I wil go ask him ( he was already outside sitting at his picnic table). I asked and he said sure Jimmy , even if they need to put on my roof. I tell the technician . He says okay , then proceeds to take off the curtains from the bottom of my home to see where he can make the 3 room connections. He goes to his truck , pulls out a hole digger , proceeds to dig the hole , then asks if i have a bucket and to fill it with water. My wife gives him it. He mixes the cement and sets the pole. He says it will take 20 minutes to harden. We give hi a bottled water and he chats with me, my wife and my neighbor. He says he has another install to do and a service call. Which the person who called me earlier did state he had other jobs scheduled. He goes to the truck , and returns with the actual dish. He bolts it to the pole . He then says , oh no , my satellite finder must have malfuctioned , i should have went back more, i cant get the 3rd satellite. He says I will have to dig another hole , my neighbor says fine. he then says I have no more cement , I have to find someone to get cement. He keeps looking at his watch. he is over 2hrs late getting to my house and its now 4:10 pm and has been at my house for 2 hrs and nothing accomplished. I go in my house and call directv , I look out my window and see him breaking the pole ( not digging it out like a normal person and taking the cement an whole pole out . He did not even attempt that. He breaks the pole ,leaving some of the pole in the ground with the cement and covers it up with dirt. leaving the big rocks on the grass , which my neighbor had to remove.

As i am on the phone he see's me and says i am on the phone with the same person. He then shuts his phone and says that person hung up on him. Here we are thinking he is waiting on cement , but he starts packing his truck , i report this to the lady and she says I dont know what to tell you. I then ask him what is going on and he says I sent picks to a tech who told me cant get a signal, cancel the job. Yet he stated to 3 of us he got the signal but had no cement. It seemed to be a timing thing. He is 4 hrs behind schedule , he would need to get cement another 20 minutes to dry, then hook up 3 rooms, the dvr and show us how to use it . I would be feeding him dinner and he would arrive at his other install at 9pm and still had a service call. He never put the curtains back on my home and just left the hole. On his way of leaving he tells me to call dish network they can get a signal because there satellite is like 90 degrees higher. He doent even know where his own satellite is located.

I call directv the next day and the lady said we will issue your money back, I said i didnt pay anything except what my state charged $10.72  . She said it would be returned. (money returned following day). I tried contacting support and kept getting transferred. At 11:51 am I get a call from a Jason Brooks from a company called MASTEC ( HIS WORK PHONE ***-***-****)  He tells me he will be out on Monday morning to see if he could get a signal and to assess the property damage. I ask him about the pics and he said you cant tell from pics, he has to be there . He is a supervisor and been doing this numerous years. He then states no one has to be home. Monday comes and I am home until 12:15 pm no calls ,no show. He does not answer any message left in his voicemail. My wife stays home as iasked her too, because i found it wierd on if no one is home , how are you going to just walk on my neighbors property without permission and if you can get a signal then install me now, why should i wait for another day and another late technician.

 

Four and a half hours on phone with directv, person to person transfers , explaining the issue too many times. They then give me property damage claims . They tell me we need to dig up the hole , take pictures of the pole and cement left behind and then submit an estimate. I first of was on a respiratir for 11 days with conjestive heart failure , had a double bi-pass and mitro valve the same year , a diabetic and just found out Monday I need a defibrilator. My neighbor has back issues and old as well. Why should we have to do this work , they hired the vendor let them come out and remove the pole. Now directv is having trouble finding my account. I did not cancel it nor did i give their contractor perission to cancel it. They cant find it under my phone nor the given account number . Yet by 2 different people they said even if it was cancelled they still hold onto the information. The property claims person did find it under a work order number.

Tuesday June 21st , on the phone again with directv , numeorus people, numerous transfers. They tell me they dont have an actual complaint dept. I also left several messages with the contractor Mr. Brooks. I speak with a person who says they will check into it . He now states it is out of their hands. But cannot supply me with any vendor information. He then said due to the order being cancelled , property damage is on me . I told him what claims stated and he said they dont know the order has been cancelled. I asked who cancelled the order it was ot me . He states it was not done by a human or there would be a footprint. He states that the computer cancells it , it holds onto it for quite sometime and cancells automatically. I then ask him , why is it that it just happened 2 days ago how did it cancell , his reply is I dont Know . he also stated if we did ourselves decide to dig , take pictures etc. it would have been for nothing. I ask him for the phone number to the Mastec compay and he says dont know it . He told me to go on site and go to retailers for my area. I do this and put in a 50 mile search and this company does not show up. I tried one county north and 1 south and still does not show up. The company has a website but the number listed goes directly back to directv.

More messages left for Mr. brooks .   I call back directv , I speak with a person who finally finds the number and address for Mastec . It is located down near nyc in Nanuet Ny . No wonder it didnt show up under retailers in my area . They are the only ones listed in NY. I check the number on the internet and the address and number are correct from what was given to me. I call the number 5x ,throughout the day , the phone just rings , no answering machine or anything. Odd for a buisness.   I call directv again and speak to property claims again ( Tracy) she says dont pay attention to that guy , take the pics , get an estimate etc. My neighbor is with me while making the call . He is now at wits end , why do we have to dig because of the people they hired's mistake.

Once again call Mastec supposed main number , just rings ( 845-215-5209) 

 

Any help with this overly frustrating situation would be appreciated , funny thing is they still want to sell me thir services.
