Further proof that Corporations are not people. I moved in the past couple months and tried to move DIRECTV with me. My current landlady does not want it on the premises. She is an attorney. I got charged an early cancellation fee from DIRECTV even though it was not my choice to cancel the service. I got on the phone with them to attempt to get refunded, and all they told me was that it is against the law for my landlady to refuse and therefore the charges cannot be revoked. First of all, who is going to try and fight this battle with their landlady? Secondly, I would have thought that maybe 200.00 was a measly amount to DIRECTV and that they would value keeping a customer more than this. I was wrong, I was backed into a wall, and I feel like I have been forced to bend over and assume the position. Fine, DIRECTV, if this is the way you want to treat a customer, then I will work hard to see that you lose as many customers as possible. Can I get any help with this issue?

Sorry, but the contract you signed when you got your service from DirectTv....

obligates you to a two year term of service to cover their installation and other up front costs.
There is a pro-rated early termination cost if cancelled before the 2 years are up.
There are NO provisions for not being able to get service should you move...the company still has their costs to recover, and you DID agree to it.
It's probably past time to read the contract.
No, I DON'T work for them and never have, and NO I don't care if you believe it or not.
