I recently became a new subscriber to DirectTV. About 10 days prior to installation, I was charged $431.31 for a HD receiver, before signing any contract etc. I was told I would have 30 days trial period by the phone sales person. The installer even told me this, as I did not like some of the features of the receiver immediately on hook up. After 4 days of having the service, I knew it in no way compared to the prior provider (((ROR redacted competitors name))) that I had had for years.

I contacted DirectTV and was reassured by them that because I had the 30 day trial I would be refunded the $431.31 for the HD receiver, so I went ahead and cancelled. Weeks later after promptly returning the receiver, I called DirectTV to find out why my account still has not been credited. They now say, oh well you can't get refunded for that. After many phone calls to supervisors I am getting the same answer.I am fuming as Direct TV basically lied to me several times to get me to try their service. Hmmm, $431.31 for four days of leasing the receiver! .That comes to more than $100 per day to watch their inferior satelite programming. I never would have paid for the $431 lease fee if I would have known it was not part of the 30 day trial. That is just absurd.

Direct TV customer service has been the absolute worst I have dealt with in at least the past 20 years. The last supervisor I asked to speak to, may not get back to me for 72 hours according to their policy.

sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company your comments on this policy are welcome! Refund Policy

AUTHOR: Larry - (U.S.A.)

Sorry to see that this happened to you, but as a Directv subscriber everytime I order equipment from them I am told that up until that equipment is installed I can get a full refund. However I am also told that they consider the sale final after installation.

It sounds like your 30 trial period was just for the service itself. I remember seeing this on their website, but it is not there now.

So it seems that you are both correct - You should have received their service free for the 4 days and they, once you had the equipment installed, would keep your money.

I know this doesn't help you, but it may clear up situation.
