I decided to go with dish network because of their prices and plus they had a special going on $49 to start your service. When calling they ask for my social sercuity number and then was told I did not qualify for the special and then was asked do I know any someone elses SS# I said yes they dont live with me they then told me that was ok it did not matter I said ok I will have them call in just a couple of minutes. She then informed me that they did not have to call I could just tell them what the number was (now I am not know much about the law but I think that is illegal) when I told her I was not going to do that she said ok bye and hang up on me.
So needless to say thier prices may be good but the customer service is bad.

I do have a ss# after I gave them the number they then told me that I could not get the special which made no since to me my credit is good and I am never late with my bills. I asked the girl that I was talking to what was the reason and she could not tell me. I think they are just trying to get what they can out of people. I know several people who have tried to get the special and they tell them the same thing they do not qualify for the speciall.

Why would you need a social security number to qualify for a special? I know a lot of subscription based services (satellite, phone, utilities) tend to do a credit check when you signup; could that be what they want? In that case, why don't you have a social security number? I have friends who are in the US on green cards, and they still have social security.
