I thought I would be saving money by switching to Dish Network, I was wrong. They were friendly at first but once everything was installed and I had paid the customer service went down to zero. I could hardly get anyone on the phone. The newest and latest technology they claimed to give me was horrible. The box only worked half the time, I could never record anything among many other problems. When I finally got through to tech support the gentleman I spoke to told me they were having a lot of problems with the box and getting complaints but they had software engineers working on everything and it would be a few months to resolve certain issues. In the meantime I was calling almost everyday with a new problem, either the service wasn't working or I couldn't view certain channels. I then asked if I could just get two separate boxes instead of the "joey" they had sent me to which they replied no we do not do down grades. Trust me that would've been an upgrade with all the problems the "joey" caused. They refused to work with me, I even offered to pay to downgrade and they said it wasn't possible!
I didn't even have dish network for a week and finally told them I wanted to cancel after all the problems I had and the fact that they wouldn't allow me to change to two separate boxes. They said fine they would send me packing materials (and charge me for the shipping and materials!) to send everything back but I would have a early cancellation fee. I said fine, and received a bill in the mail for $362. I sent everything back and they sent me a confirmation e-mail saying they had received all the equipment. Looking as my bank statement from five days ago they charged me $420, when I called and asked why they said oh it's taxes. Almost 60$ in taxes?! This company is ridiculous, the customer service is horrible. I guess the old adage you pay for you get rings true here. Beware of this company, stick with whoever you have now, no matter how good the price sounds you'll pay much more in the end.

The Hopper and Joey models did have a few bugs at introduction that we were working to remove from the system. There were even internal issues with getting our system to allow a downgrade. These issues have been corrected with the recent software revisions that we've made.
