My daughter is 19 and away at college. She couldn't get the internet to work in her new apartment, so she ordered Dish over the phone.
The guy came to install it. On his iPad he pulled up one paragraph and had her sign it. This stated that he installed the equipment and it was in good working order. Then he left. He did not show her the contract or tell her that it was a two-year contract, etc.
Later, they copied her signature and forged it on the rest of the contract in 5 places. In these spots she was agreeing to all the terms and conditions, but of course she never agreed to them, because she never saw them.
When I called Dish and brought this to their attention, and told them I wanted to cancel, their attitude was basically, "too bad. We have her signature. You are out of luck."
It is outrageous to me that they would scam a teenager, forge her signature, then want $420 to terminate the contract early. So that would be $800 for a service she does not want, and they committed fraud to sign her to the contract. I would like to file a civil suit against them, if I could afford an attorney.
