I called to order installation slated for a future date, but cancelled that order today (the reason is irrelevant). I've since discovered that my credit card was already charged $149.00 for the equipment.
I had specifically asked about the possibility that I couldn't receive a signal, and was told that the installer would not complete the installation if it was determined that I couldn't receive a satisfactory signal. It is unscrupulous that they pre-charged for the equipment given that I've not yet received it, and the service may possibly not be installed at all. I spoke with an 'acount specialist', and she admitted that my credit card should not have been charged, and claims she filed for a refund to be issued.
After reading from others here about Dish Network's pattern of customer abuse, I decided it would be prudent to file a dispute with my credit card company for the equipment charge rather than trust the the company will, indeed, refund my money.
I would highly suggest that others who are cheated by the company also file a dispute with their credit/debit card companies.
And John of Spokane, I would be interested in participating in a class-action lawsuit against Dish Network.

WOW, what customer service

WOW, these employees just go to show you just how bad the customer service for this company must be. I would hate to know that I made a mistake with them and they had this kind of response to me, and it is for that simple reason that I will not be getting Dish from you. Thanks for your complaint but even moreso, thanks for the response from the employees because if this company employs low life trash such as yourselves, no wonder they need to lie and cheat the public to make a buck.

So, the tv you bought wasn't paid for before you brought it home, plugged it in and made sure it worked? or maybe the washing machine...the blender...the fridge...the stereo? No? Why is that, I wonder? could it possibly be because people generally have to pay for items (even if it's only with plastic) *before* they take them home and try to use them? That's just the way things are. why should Dish be different? There are limitations, sure, but under the circumstances you described, a person gets their money back. Now, if Dish's position was "no line of sight, huh? Sucks to be you, don't it, cuz you'll never see that money again " it would be a different matter entirely. But that's *not* what happened, is it? Get a grip...grow up...or something. I'm the biggest complainer on the planet, but even *I* wouldn't get so bent about something like this.

There is not much to say about your situation
it very simple...
You were buying a single receiver with a dish antenna with installation included and that is the cost for it.
If you buy a a 62in tv at bestbuy and requires installation, would you pay at the store for the equipment before installation or would you pay the installer after the installation has been completed?:-)
Of course you will pay at the store (?)
Now, if the installer determined that you don't have a clear line he will not install..
We rather cancel the work order and not having you with technical problems all the time.
Now, dish will refund what you agreed and paid in advance. It normally takes 5-10 business days if you paid with credit card or upto 20 days if paid with other payment method.
if you filed a credit dispute, well, that is too bad, it might take more time for you to get the refund.
Instead of participating in a legal class action against any company..consider your self enrolling in a common sense class.
peace.
