On February 11, 2011, we received your complaint, dated February 10, 2011, filed with the Better Business Bureau.
You expressed concern about your monthly DISH Network rate increasing. You request to have the DISH Network cancellation fee reversed.
When I spoke to you on February 23, 2011, I explained that DISH Network reserves the right to change pricing at any time. Your monthly rate was correct and the cancellation fee is valid. I offered to charge you a $99.00 activation fee instead of the cancellation fee of $165.00. You stated you will think about it and call me later.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. If there are further questions or concerns about this issue, please feel free to contact me at (720) 514-7279.
Sincerely,

#1 Consumer Comment
Don't stop with the BBB

File a complaint with your state's Attorney General. Just do a web search for their website. Those complaints hurt them worse than the BBB. You may want to throw in a complaint to the FTC for good measure. Dish Network thinks they can raise rates in the middle of their contract because they hid a little disclaimer in mouseprint in their customer service agreement. That doesn't make it right. They should either remove the charge and give you the agreed upon amount or let you go to the competition without penalty. Raising rates during a contract is despicable, regardless of what their "agreement" says.
Check out Dish Network's website. They are still offering the $24.99 package, even though it ceased to exist a month ago. I'm sure they tell their salesmen to continue to offer it as well. Then when you're locked in to their contract they can raise the price and say "sorry, we can do whatever we like. Despicable.
Don't forget to file a complaint with your state's AG! That is the best thing you can do.
